LUIS JORGE REXACH …. a very talented local musician!!

~~LUIS JORGE REXACH~~

Singer, musician, composer, producer ……

Born in San Juan and raised in the town of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Currently living in the city of Orlando, Florida.

In this cookie cutter world, few artists dare to venture out of their comfort zone or so-called markets to try something new, something bold, something honest.

Luis Rexach has taken the leap of faith and landed safely.

L4

His first release on Tacatantán Records “Desolado” is a 5 song EP that rocks, grooves and pushes the status quo on Latin music with retro-driven funk on “Ser Abandonado” or the energetic Motown infused “This is me” sets a tone that screams individuality.

Additional songs such as the title track “Desolado” give way to the philosophical inclinations of this young Puerto Rican singer-songwriter as well a romantic rock anthem entitled “Un Paseo” that grabs you by the heart with it’s enchantment and throws you into the passionate landscapes of Old San Juan.

Steven Spielberg attacked by Facebook users for ‘killing dinosaur’

This goes to show the degree of lack of education of the general public ….. Dinosaurs have been extinct for thousands of years! Get educated people …. guess some missed school when this class was taught! Lol ….

Dear Kitty. Some blog

Steven Spielberg with 'dead' Triceratops

These Facebook users should reserve their criticism for people like the king of Spain or the United States Trump dynasty, who really kill animals which are still alive today, contrary to dinosaurs

From daily The Independent in Britain:

Steven Spielberg mercilessly trolled by Facebook users who think he killed a dinosaur

This is not a joke – Facebook users riot over an image of the director on the set of Jurassic Park

Friday 11 July 2014

Steven Spielberg has been trolled by numerous Facebook users after a photo was shared of the director with a mechanical Triceratops on the set of 1993 film Jurassic Park.

The image was posted on the Facebook page of Jay Branscomb as a joke, alongside the caption:

“Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame…

Words that make me think … LABELS!!

NoLabel

~~July 11, 2014~~

Labels are plugins that automate stereotypical thinking.  We hear or see a familiar label and we have instantaneous recall of a fully developed opinion, completely colored with our own emotional paintbrush.

Labeling theory is the theory of how the self-identity and behavior of individuals may be determined or influenced by the terms used to describe or classify them.

It is associated with the concepts of self-fulfilling prophecy and stereotyping. Labeling theory holds that deviance is not inherent to an act, but instead focuses on the tendency of majorities to negatively label minorities or those seen as deviant from standard cultural norms. The theory was prominent during the 1960s and 1970s, and some modified versions of the theory have developed and are still currently popular. Unwanted descriptors or categorizations – including terms related to deviance, disability or diagnosis of a mental disorder – may be rejected on the basis that they are merely, often with attempts to adopt a more constructive language in its place. A stigma is defined as a powerfully negative label that changes a person’s self-concept and social identity.

Labeling theory is closely related to social-construction and symbolic-interaction analysis. Labeling theory was developed by sociologists during the 1960s. Howard Saul Becker’s book Outsiders was extremely influential in the development of this theory and its rise to popularity.

I could be labeled as:

Woman

White

Hispanic

Catholic/Spiritualist

Gay/Lesbian

Retired Doctor

Overweight/Obese

However, these labels don’t define me. I am more than that. What I am is inside of me. I am a human being and as such I should be treated.

Something to think about …. overthinking!!

~~July 11, 2014~~

Analysis paralysis or paralysis of analysis is an anti-pattern, the state of over-analyzing (or over-thinking) a situation so that a decision or action is never taken, in effect paralyzing the outcome. A decision can be treated as over-complicated, with too many detailed options, so that a choice is never made, rather than try something and change if a major problem arises. A person might be seeking the optimal or “perfect” solution upfront, and fear making any decision which could lead to erroneous results, when on the way to a better solution.

The phrase describes a situation where the opportunity cost of decision analysis exceeds the benefits that could be gained by enacting some decision, or an informal or non-deterministic situation where the sheer quantity of analysis overwhelms the decision-making process itself, thus preventing a decision.

The phrase applies to any situation where analysis may be applied to help make a decision and may be a dysfunctional element of organizational behavior. This is often phrased as paralysis by analysis, in contrast to extinct by instinct (making a fatal decision based on hasty judgment or a gut-reaction).

~Here are four lessons on how to detox your mind from overthinking~

Stop consuming the news

Reduce stimulants (coffee, soda, etc.)

Soak the mind with positive juices

Get up and get to work on a goal, a project or a specific task

A negative result of overthinking is that it slows us down, inhibiting our growth, limiting our ability to have love, good relationships, fun in the moment and the pursuit of success in a business or a career.

Putting action into motion when our mind starts to wander into a place has done great things to help me redirect that often wasted energy into something useful — pursuit of my life goals or simply to have a good time in the moment. The reason action is a great way to detox from overthinking is that it forces our mind to concentrate on the things that our physical body is working on and has no choice but to assist the physical effort.

Every time you start overthinking and get into a spiral try this: change your physical position — sit up, change posture — and do something physical.

Angelika’s Songs …. “Fireworks”!!

AngBooks

~~July 11, 2014~~

This is Angelika, my oldest grand-daughter, you may have seen her here a few times. She is 9 years old.

She loves music, as much as I do. She’s been keeping me up to date with some of the new songs that are coming out. She knows the songs but doesn’t know the performer most of the time. I’ve trying to teach her it’s important to also know who is singing. Very frequently, we use the “Shazam” app to identify the singer/band.

I created this series: Angelika’s Songs  to post here the new songs that she teaches me about.

Angelika is still on her trip up north. I spoke with her a few nights ago and she’s still listening for songs to educate me about. She gave me two new titles. The first one: TImber … I posted yesterday.

For today … here it is!

Firework” is a song by American recording artist Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010). Perry co-wrote the song with its producers, StarGate and Sandy Vee, with additional writing from Ester Dean, making this the only single and one of seven songs from Teenage Dream to not be co-written or produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke. The song is a self-empowerment anthem with inspirational lyrics, and was considered by Perry as an important song for her on Teenage Dream.

Firework” received mostly positive reviews from music critics, with some noting its catchy melody and danceable beat and comparing it to songs by English band Coldplay. The song was commercially successful, reaching the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on 20 charts around the world. The song was released on October 18, 2010 by Capitol Records as the third single from the album. As of December 2012, the song has sold over 6 million copies in the US alone, making Perry the only artist with three songs topping the 6 million mark.

It is also the best selling song that was a third single or older, that wasn’t a part of a re-release. On the week ending of January 8, 2011, “Firework” sold 509,000 digital downloads in the US, which is the fifth highest amount ever sold by a female artist behind Taylor Swift‘s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (623,000), Kesha‘s “Tik Tok” (610,000), Perry’s own “Roar” (557,000), tied with Lady Gaga‘s “Born This Way” (509,000) and the sixth highest sales week overall. The song is the third consecutive number-one single of the same album; the last female singer who achieved this was Monica in 1998.

An accompanying music video, directed by Dave Meyers, was released on October 28, 2010. It portrays Perry singing and dancing around Budapest, with interspersed scenes of young people becoming confident in themselves. An open casting call for the music video drew an unprecedented 38,000 applicants. On Much Music‘s top 50 videos of 2010, “Firework” reached the top position.

The music video was said to be a more upbeat take on Christina Aguilera‘s message in “Beautiful“. It was nominated for three awards at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, eventually winning one of those, the Video of the Year, the main and final award. “Firework” was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards. On January 5, 2012, “Firework” was elected the fifth most played single on U.S. radio during 2011 by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, with 509,000 plays.

Man has no respect for the animals on Earth …. it has clearly been demonstrated! There will come a time when we all will pay a hefty price!!

Walking with the Alligators

I am sure that you all remember the horrific stories written  here about the Seven Black Bears,  that were killed in the Orlando area recently.

It was a sad, sad, sickening thing to have to write about and watch unfold.

Many hearts were broken,  as this story was on the News here nearly daily.

Many were also convinced that a Human was at the root of this, but could not prove it until now.

Finally the answer came and it has been all over our news for the past 24 hours.

First, a local Seminole County couple, Corey Zeak and Lori Clem, admitted to feeding the bears in this neighborhood and plead  “no contest”  to the charges against them.

They were fined $200 each and put on six months probation!

Then, a video surfaced of a man shown actually in the act of feeding a Black Bear.
