Bipolar Takes Another Life

The monster of mental illness! Hoping this can help …. 😟

Naked Nerves

CLOUD050

I’m totally devastated right now. I just got a call from my favorite cousin telling me that his wife had just taken her own life this morning. She was 67 and had suffered with Bipolar Disorder for many many years and tried to kill herself several times before. Always they were able to save her before, but not this time.

I couldn’t stop the tears as he described the circumstances of finding her face down in their swimming pool when he got up today. He’s been in very bad shape himself from the weight of caring for her for all these years and getting sicker himself as it went along. He couldn’t talk much but he knew how much I loved her and how it would affect me so he called me.

This is so sad to me I can barely write about it but I feel it might help…

Tañón’s singing career began when she joined a group called “Las Nenas de Ringo y Jossie” (Ringo and Jossie’s Girls) in the 1980s. A short time later a very popular group in Puerto Rico called “Chantelle” noticed her mezzo soprano voice and recruited her.

They saw in her what they needed for their merengue style of music. When Tañón was a member of Chantelle, they scored their biggest hit, “Aunque Tú no Quieras” (Even If You Don’t Want It). The song was popular in Latin America.

Revenge is Sweet – You can Play this Game and Share your Vladimir Putin Creation in Social Media

By Melanie Nathan, February 13, 2013.

Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 10.44.48 AMWord has it that Valdimir Putin does not like to be mocked, insulted or ridiculed. Word also has it that gays do not like to be persecuted. Exacting revenge against the Russian President for how he has treated LGBT people in Russia, may not be prudent, yet is hard to resist. With that in mind, you may want to participate in DRESS UP PUTIN, A new internet game developed by a Dutch group of gamers, who were incensed by Putin’s anti-gay laws and his regime’s pointed persecution of gays in Russia. Hence the delivery of the tit for tat – “You design bad laws for gays, we design pretty clothes for you!”

Organic Farming …. Spiritual connection … One with Nature!

~~February 13, 2014~~

Researchers from University of Oxford: Organic farming ‘boosts biodiversity and bees’

Organic farms support 34% more plant, insect and animal species on average compared with conventional farms, according to Oxford academics.

Researchers from the University of Oxford reviewed farm data going back 30 years and they concluded that organic farms yielded greater biodiversity benefits than intensively-farmed land.

Image

The study, published in the Journal of Applied Ecology, also found that on average, non-organic farms have about 50% fewer species of pollinators, such as bees, than organic farms.

“Our study has shown that organic farming, as an alternative to conventional farming, can yield significant long-term benefits for biodiversity,” said Sean Tuck, study lead author, of Oxford University’s department of plant sciences. “Organic methods could undoubtedly play a major role in halting the continued loss of diversity in industrialized nations.”

Border1

The report, entitled Land-use intensity and the effects of organic farming on biodiversity, was completed using meta-analysis – a statistical technique that combines the results of different studies. It looked at data from 94 previous studies covering 184 farm sites dating back to 1989.

Louise Payton, policy officer at the Soil Association, said: “This is fantastic news for wildlife and confirms what we have been saying for years. We are suffering dramatic losses of wildlife all over the world so to know that organic farms have on average a third more species shows just how great a difference you can make by supporting organic agriculture and buying organic food.

Our food systems are being threatened by the declines of bees and other pollinators – necessary for a third of the food that we eat.

Image

Yet despite offering more benefits for the environment, UK organic farmers receive some of the lowest payments in farm subsidies across the whole of the EU, she added. “We are urging the government to redress this balance and ensure organic farmers in the UK are adequately supported in the new CAP.”

Organic farming is a form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotationgreen manurecompost, and biological pest control. Depending on whose definition is used, organic farming uses fertilizers and pesticides (which includeherbicidesinsecticides and fungicides) if they are considered natural (such as bone meal from animals or pyrethrin from flowers), but it excludes or strictly limits the use of various methods (including synthetic petrochemical fertilizers and pesticidesplant growth regulators such as hormonesantibiotic use in livestockgenetically modified organisms; human sewage sludge; and nanomaterials.) for reasons including sustainabilityopennessindependencehealth, and safety.

Border1

Organic agricultural methods are internationally regulated and legally enforced by many nations, based in large part on the standards set by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), an international umbrella organization for organic farming organizations established in 1972. IFOAM defines the overarching goal of organic farming as:

“Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved…”

Since 1990 the market for organic food and other products has grown rapidly, reaching $63 billion worldwide in 2012. This demand has driven a similar increase in organically managed farmland which has grown over the years 2001-2011 at a compounding rate of 8.9% per annum. As of 2011, approximately 37,000,000 hectares (91,000,000 acres) worldwide were farmed organically, representing approximately 0.9 percent of total world farmland (2009).

Russia passes more anti gay legislation despite Sochi Games

…. and so it goes!!!

RIA Novisti is reporting that today Russia introduced measures to further restrict adoptions to people in countries that recognize same-sex marriages. The ban now affects married gay couples and unmarried couples. The timing is beautiful – why let the international focus on Russia of the homophobic Sochi Olympic Games dissuade you from continuing your anti-gay hate, President Putin?

Today’s measures add to the law passed last July that banned couples in those countries from adopting Russian children. OBLOGDEE reported on that law here. The new measures will make Russia the first country to specifically ban adoptions by single would-be parents living in countries that permit same-sex marriage. Perhaps a Gold Medal is in order for Mr. Putin.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the decree which reads:

“Adoptions can be carried out by members of…
