At the end of the day ….. “Let It Go”!

~~March  5, 2014~~

Let It Go” is a song from Disney‘s 2013 animated feature film, Frozen, with music and lyrics composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song was performed in the film by American actress and singer Idina Menzel in her role as Queen Elsa.

The song appears after an ostracized Elsa abandons her kingdom soon after her magical ability to create and control ice is discovered by the public. Realizing that she no longer needs to hide her incredibly powerful ice abilities, Elsa declares herself free from the obstacles that she’s been faced with since childhood and rejoices in using her powers without fear.

Let It Go” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards, where the song was performed live by Menzel.

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight,
not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I’m the queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside.
Couldn’t keep it in, Heaven knows I tried.
Don’t let them in, don’t let them see.
Be the good girl you always have to be.
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know.
Well, now they know!

Let it go, let it go!
Can’t hold it back any more.
Let it go, let it go!
Turn away and slam the door.
I don’t care what they’re going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway.

It’s funny how some distance,
makes everything seem small.
And the fears that once controlled me, can’t get to me at all
It’s time to see what I can do,
to test the limits and break through.
No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I’m free!

Let it go, let it go.
I am one with the wind and sky.
Let it go, let it go.
You’ll never see me cry.
Here I’ll stand, and here I’ll stay.
Let the storm rage on.

My power flurries through the air into the ground.
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back; the past is in the past!

Let it go, let it go.
And I’ll rise like the break of dawn.
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand, in the light of day.

Let the storm rage on!
The cold never bothered me anyway ..

(w/ Classroom Instruments)

I find this to be a beautiful, inspiring and spiritual song. The music, the lyrics …. I saw the movie and it caught me fight away. In my personal life the phrase “Let It Go” has meant a lot.

I still don’t have the full mastering of it but I totally understand that it’s best sometimes to “Let It Go“.

Ellen Degeneres …. a powerhouse!!

Ellen DeGeneres Reflects on Coming-Out Episode, more than 15 Years Later

Ellen DeGeneres is a powerhouse name these days, associated with a successful talk show, awards shows and talent competitions as well as a serious love for dancing – something she’s even shared with President Obama.

But more than15 years ago, on ABC’s “20/20” in April 1997, days before the airing of the episode in which she announced that she was gay, the funny, kind, brave and huge star of her own show shared her fears of coming out.

“If they found out I was gay, maybe they wouldn’t applaud,” she said. “Maybe they wouldn’t laugh. Maybe they wouldn’t like me if they knew that I was gay.”

During that April 30, 1997 episode of “The Ellen Show” — called “The Puppy Episode” — DeGeneres sat across from her psychiatrist, played by Oprah Winfrey.

“It’s not like I’m looking for perfection,” DeGeneres’ character said. “I just want to find somebody special, somebody that I click with.”

“Has there ever been anyone you felt you clicked with?” Winfrey’s character asked. “What was his name?”

“Susan,” she replied. Laughter and applause followed.

Advertisers such as JCPenney and Chrysler, though, decided not to buy airtime during the episode. Wendy’s decided not to advertise on “The Ellen Show” at all.

A lot has changed since the day that show first aired.

JCPenney has tapped DeGeneres as its spokeswoman and supported its decision even when One Million Moms, a “pro-family advocacy” group, threatened to boycott the national retail chain for refusing to fire her.

50th Time’s the Charm?

Leave it alone!!!

The Fifth Column

I guess the GOP never got the memo on the definition of insanity

Think Progress

House Republicans Are Still On Another Planet

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

While that quote has been misattributed to everyone from Albert Einstein to Mark Twain, it’s a pretty apt description of House Republicans and the Affordable Care Act.

Today, House Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act for the 50th time since the law was passed in 2010. The repeal bill they passed this afternoon would result in a million additional uninsured Americans just this year alone.

President Obama took a shot at these endless GOP games last week: “You know what they say: 50th time is the charm. Maybe when you hit your 50th repeal vote, you will win a prize. Maybe if you buy 50 repeal votes, you get one free.”

The NOH8 Campaign (pronounced “no hate campaign“) is a charitable organization in the United States whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

The main goal of NOH8 is to promote marriage, gender and human equality, regardless of the cultural group one may associate with. Through education, advocacy, social media, visual protest and the use of famous celebrities as spokespersons, this campaign raises awareness of marriage equality and anti-discrimination on a global level, incorporating almost 30,000 faces with support continually growing.

The campaign was created as photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest. The phrase refers to “H8” (leet for ‘hate’), short for “Proposition H8” (pronounced “proposition hate”), a nickname used by critics of the proposition. The photos are featured on the campaign’s website, as well as various social networks, as well as a virtual world campaign in Second Life.

Nearly four years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has expanded at an increasing rate, with more than 33,000 photos taken at 120 open photo shoots in 43 U.S. states. The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians of various nationalities, and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and various others.

The images are widely used on various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to spread the message of equality. Some photographers and student groups have even set up their own photoshoots. The campaign photos have circulated on the internet and are appearing on many supporter’s social networking profiles. Both LGBT and non-LGBT people have participated in the photoshoots.

In November 2008, in response to the narrow approval in California of Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage, Bouska and his partner, Jeff Parshley, founded the NOH8 Campaign to promote the overturn of this ban. While beginning at a grassroots level, by April 2009 the campaign had seen support from such celebrities as Leslie JordanShanna Moakler, and RichGirl; and became involved in the Miss USA 2009 controversy.

The campaign has now gained the support of other notables, including Adam Carolla, Brooke Burke, Cindy McCain, Fran Drescher, Dr. Drew, Kathy Griffin, Denise Richards, Jane Lynch, Mark Hoppus, Lisa Edelstein, Rose McGowan, and Steve-O.

NOH8 Campaigns Im Coming Out PSA

Published on Mar 3, 2012 NOH8 Campaign is proud to release it’s 2nd PSA titled “I’m Coming Out” to help raise awareness about Propostion 8 and Marriage Equality

On Wednesday in June 2013, the Supreme Court made two highly anticipated decisions on same-sex marriage, striking down the Defense of Marriage Act and dismissing California’s Proposition 8 case.

In neither decision did the Supreme Court legalize same-sex marriage nationally — that will require a lot more legislation. But for those in a same-sex marriage already, their rights just broadened exponentially.

The Most Amazing Music Machine you will ever see!
(but not at the Smithsonian)

Music MP3Music Video
Music VideoMusic Video

Some of you have probably received this video by email, with accompanying text:

University of Iowa Farm Machine Music

This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft Iowa, yes farm equipment!

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort.
It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.

Well, do not hurry to book your trip to the Smithsonian to see this modern wonder of technology and every steampunk composer’s ultimate fetish. The status of this story is FALSE

“The device depicted in this video does not exist, at the University of Iowa or anywhere else. It’s an example of a computer-animated music video, this one entitled “Pipe Dream” and taken from one of several similar segments on a DVD produced by Animusic” back in 2001.

Make sure you see the original video of this phantasmagorical music device, as it plays funky jazz by continuously shooting balls at various percussion instruments.

Even if it’s computer-generated, this music machine DOES capture the imagination, and I would rate it as one of the coolest fictional devices ever realized on screen.

Even if this is a hoax and not true, it’s still way cool.

Just let your imagination roll and think: what if?
