It Is What It Is

At the end of the day …. The Piano Guys Series #6!

~~April 14, 2014~~

The Piano Guys are an American musical group consisting of Jon SchmidtSteven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson, and Al van der Beek.

They gained popularity through YouTube, where they posted piano and cello renditions of popular songs and classical music. Schmidt and Nelson’s music is accompanied by professional-quality videos shot and edited by Paul Anderson.

Today we are featuring “Cello Wars” from their first CD.

In this Star Wars Parody that took six months to complete, two opponents battle each other by playing the cello with their special light saber bows. These are real musicians playing a compilation of the original Star Wars themes.

“The Piano Guys have another great addition to their roster. This time they’ve chosen to cover Star Wars in all of its Force-fed glory.

In this epic Duel of the Fates, Sith and Jedi battle with their hokey religion and ancient weapons, but with one minor addition … cellos!!! With no further ado, I present to you “Cello Wars”.

This video is almost too awesome. Darth Vader break out his accordion. Who doesn’t love a little Cantina music in the middle of the day? How about the Chewbacca interludes? There’s only one thing this clip needs, and it’s not more cowbell … it’s more Wookie!”

“Music is probably the most common language everyone on earth understands. It’s somewhat in our blood, and we feel a plethora of emotions when we hear music depending on what the song expresses. Lyrics are of course not necessary to feel music, and that is why music is such a universal language. We have seen a massive increase in modern music such as hybrids and remixes between drum & bass, dance and others. Sometimes the remixes can even become more successful online than the original song, so it’s no wonder some people are continuously digging into the mash-up bag to come up with new stuff.

It seems the The Piano Guys have done the same, and they have put their own personal touch on the Star Wars soundtrack. In this really hilarious yet impressive video, you will be introduced to the Star Wars theme song through the awesome take by cellos. There is of course a little twist to the whole thing, but I won’t reveal what that is. I can say this much … Keep an eye on the video at around 2:00, and you will know what I am talking about.

This is yet another one of those videos that I am sure will go viral (if it hasn’t already) in an instant. As always, we want to share these geeky things with you. You really need to check this one out if you are a huge Star Wars fan. It’s called Cello Wars, and it has some rather impressive special effects in it as well. I find it hard to dig up something that will challenge this video in terms of creativity, but as we all know, there is always someone out there who will take things just a little bit farther.”

~Cello Wars (Star Wars Parody) Lightsaber Duel – ThePianoGuys~

~~Story behind the song~~

Long ago in a galaxy far, far away…

We bring you CELLO WARS! A result of 6 months of production … our most ambitious undertaking by far! Why Star Wars Cello? Because of our unending admiration of George Lucas, John Williams, and the most EPIC movies and film score ever created. The idea originated when Tel Stewart was editing THE CELLO SONG here:….

As a joke he decided to add light sabers to Steven Sharp Nelson’s bow during the outtakes. Fans cried out for more. Al van der Beek and Steven Sharp Nelson storyboarded the song and the video concept while they were scouting locations for MOONLIGHT ….

But it was Steven Sharp Nelson’s son Eli that was the true inspiration for the project — his enthusiasm for Star Wars, light sabers, and watching his daddy wield one while playing cello fueled the project continually.

We announced CELLO WARS on September 19, 2011 thinking we’d be able to deliver on our promise within a few weeks. We had NO IDEA. 70 days later, more than 7,000 frames, 72 audio tracks, 24 hours of filming through the night in front of a green screen, the most props and costumes we’ve ever used, several broken bows and strings, and over 1,000 hours of editing and rendering — we felt like we had taken on the entire EMPIRE!

Tel Stewart is THE MAN. He is the reason this worked. He is the man behind the green screen — behind the editing bay — behind all the cool effects. He had to edit every single frame in order to make the light sabers work (a total of over 7,000 frames)! We now have a Piano Guys Hall of Fame and he was recently the first inductee.

Original music composed by the AMAZING John Williams
Arrangement written and produced by Al van der Beek & Steven Sharp Nelson
Recorded, mixed & mastered by Al van der Beek at TPG Studios

Duel of the Fates (From Episode 1)
May the Force Be With You
Star Wars Main Theme
Cantina Band (from Episode 4)

All FIVE melodies enter one by one at the end and stack on top of each other until all of them are being played at the same time.

Exposing Animal Abuse Around the World

~Not a single creature on earth has more or less right to be here~

~When humans act with cruelty we characterize them as “animals”, yet the only animal that displays cruelty is humanity~

~Animals don’t make me cry, what humans do to animals does ~

~If animals could speak, mankind would weep~

~Animals have hearts that feel, eyes that see, and families to care for, just like you and me~

~When we love an animal as our family, we begin to understand animals are our family~

~Humans need to be humane for the sake of humanity~

~Animals have few rights, but every right to fear man~

~Mankind is a dark shadow that lingers over many other animals. We were intended to be a bright light over them~

~Other animals are not our playthings or simply our pets. They are living beings with feelings and emotions. They require love and companionship. Just like you and me~

~Animals should not require our permission to live on earth. Animals were given the right to be here long before we arrived ~

Watch The Moon Disappear Before Your Eyes—Don’t Miss Tonight’s Total Lunar Eclipse!

Posted on Monday, April 14, 2014 by eNature

There’s a total lunar eclipse happening across all of North America LATE tonight and early tomorow morning (the 15th). A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full Moon passes through the dark inner core of the Earth’s shadow, which is called the umbra.

North America hasn’t experienced a total eclipse of the Moon since 2011. But that dearth ends in the early morning hours of April 15th (or late on April 14th for the West Coast), when the full Moon passes through the umbra and all but disappears. In fact, we’re due to see three more eclipses over the next two years, a…

The Boypoet’s Award Ceremony

Very well done!! I really appreciate your mention … and feel honored that you’ve included me!! Reblog!!

The Boy Poet

Over recent months my blogs have received several lovely and touching awards from my beautiful friend Doctor Rex, author of the blog It Is What It Is. Thank you dear Horty from the bottom of my heart.

Whilst I really appreciate the kind thoughts behind these awards I am left in a quandary of who to nominate when playing it forward. I follow a whole myriad of blogs featuring poetry, cooking, music, art and every other aspect of life you can think of – just how do I choose a few from so many excellent blogs. In the end I did make a list based on a tried and tested method of names picked from a hat as each blog I follow because I enjoy reading it, love the content and appreciate the hard graft the blogger has put into bringing each post to the reader – to choose…

Simulcast …. an Orlando based band!

~~April 14, 2014~~

Orlando is a town of over one million people, but the broadcast community is a tight bunch. Bob Frier, TV anchorman for WOFL, FOX 35, and Scott McKenzie, host of MIX 105.1’s The Morning Mix have been buddies for years. One afternoon after producing a song together, Scott said, “We should start a band.”
Since they were both on the air, maybe they should call the band “SIMULCAST“.  Bob grabbed the idea and ran with it. His first phone call was to Gladys Justiniano, who had recently won Orlando’s version of Idol. After canvassing the area for the best musicians, 4 more players were invited to jam a couple of evenings at the TV station between newscasts.
The chemistry was immediate, and after a few months of rehearsals, SIMULCAST took their show to the public.
Since their launch in 2007, SIMULCAST has been invited to play at Universal CityWalk, The House of Blues, BB King’s club, and downtown Orlando music festivals.  SIMULCAST has shared the stage with some of their favorite artists including Goo Goo Dolls, Sara Bareilles, Collective Soul, Third Eye Blind, Five For Fighting, and Matt Nathanson.  The band also plays at numerous charity and private events throughout Central Florida.

Check out our calendar page for upcoming dates or contact us for bookings.
Thanks for visiting!
~~Scott Mckenzie – guitar, vocals~~
Scott’s original musical inspiration came from quite a unique source … The Beatles.
Okay, unique might not be the right word. But his life truly did find it’s direction when he first saw them on Ed Sullivan in 1964. It was at that moment that Scott started growing his hair, bugging his parents for a guitar, and camping out in front of the radio to soak in all that energy. Aside from finally cutting his mop top, he’s still on the same course … enjoying his 31st year ON the radio, playing in this amazing band, and hitting up his parents for money.

~~Bob Frier – keyboards, vocals~~

Bob has been a familiar face for Central Florida television viewers for nearly a decade.
He was primary anchor for the CBS affiliate in Orlando from 2001 to 2009 and can currently be seen anchoring the 5 and 10 PM newscasts on Fox 35. However, music was Bob’s first passion. He studied music at the University of Colorado majoring in Vocal Performance. He then performed in nearly 40 musicals in Colorado and California, before returning to C.U to get his degree in Journalism. Bob co-founded Simulcast with Scott McKenzie from Mix 105.1…. and to this day insists on introducing himself with – “Hi, I’m Bob Frier….. I play in a Rock Band.”

~~Gladys Justiniano – vocals~~

Gladys Justiniano is a vocalist and lead singer for SIMULCAST.
She was born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the LaGuardia HS of Music & Art (the FAME school) located in New York City, NY as a vocal major. After high school, Gladys earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with the John Jay College of Criminal Justice – majoring in Forensic Psychology and also earned her Master of Arts degree with Webster University – majoring in Counseling. Gladys has lived in Florida since 2001. As for music, one of Gladys’ vocal career highlights includes her winning the 2006 Florida Supersinger contest, which aired on the WKMG – Local 6 TV station, AND which later gave her the opportunity to meet the wonderful men that now join her in the SIMULCAST music band.
When Gladys is not singing, she is busy working as a School Guidance Counselor at Gateway High School for the Osceola County School District.
Her inspiration of pursuing music is based on two of her very own beautiful children. Her favorite thing to say is, “Music Saves My Soul” . . . because . . . it just does.

~~Mark Dawson – bass, vocals~~

Born in Chicago, IL. Mark has been a full-time musician since 1981.
In 1992, he wrote all the material for the first CD by his Chicago-based band, The All-Night Newsboys. He then followed-up with a second release in 1993. Mark was named a Billboard Top 100 “Up-and-Coming Songwriter” in 1992. He was also hired as the singing voice of the Coors Light radio ads from 1991 – 1993. In 1994, Mark was honored with an Illinois Entertainer “Vocalist of the Year” nomination.
After moving to Florida in 1996, Mark joined a Doo-Wop/Motown vocal group called “The Streetlites”. Later he began traveling around the world as a bassist & vocalist with The Grass Roots and Herman’s Hermits. He has also toured with members of Badfinger, The Hollies, The Ides of March and Survivor. In 2009, he released his first solo CD, “Chapter Two”.

~~Tony Triozzi – drums~~

Tony Triozzi started playing drums at the age of 16 and over the years has played with several bands in Jacksonville and Orlando, FL.  ” I was lucky to have a dad who was a talented piano player. I was playing Glen Miller and Frank Sinatra tunes at the same time I was learning rock & roll in my first band.”
Besides drumming, Tony has always enjoyed writing and producing original
songs and has composed and produced many advertising music campaigns for a diverse
group of advertising clients.

~~Ben Van Hook – guitar~~

Ben Van Hook started playing guitar when he was 15 years old inspired by his mother, who performed on a country music radio show with her family when she was a teen. Both his brother and sister played, so there was always a guitar around the house. His path took a turn when he was 21 and discovered photography. His photography and film directing career now spans 30 years, but still can’t get music out of his blood. “This is the perfect outlet for me…great friends, making great music, having a blast…I feel very fortunate to be part of this amazing band.”

~~Simulcast Party Band~~

~~Gladys Justiniano~~

I had the opportunity of listening to three members of this band about one week ago. I must say that, even though the acoustics of the venue weren’t the best, the quality of their music and performance shone through.

The lead vocalist has an awesome voice which stood out is spite of the noise and din of the venue. Will definitely follow them to the next location on their schedule.

They are definitely an up and coming music act that will go places.

Some thoughts to think about ….

~~April 14, 2014~~

During my professional career, I have met many people who have multiple issues in their lives. I have also met some in my personal life. They have experienced difficult events which shaped their current lives. Some have been able to recover from these events but others haven’t been able to.

Many times we tend to think “I can be here for them and help them”.

The reality is, if they don’t accept they may need help, there’s very little that one can do.

We need to listen to our intuition and acknowledge that some may be beyond our help. It doesn’t do any good to take upon ourselves their trials and tribulations. If we do, we become entangled in an endless web which will undermine our personal resources and stamina.

Listen to the call of your Spirit. Pay attention.

It may be time to let go!

Forgive any wrongs and walk away.

~~Forgiveness and the Freedom of Letting go~~

~~Uploaded on Jun 12, 2007~~

Forgiveness is the mental, emotional and/or spiritual process of ceasing to feel resentment, indignation or anger against another person for a perceived offense, difference or mistake, or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution.
