Here’s the reason for the outcry …. Ted Cruz!!

~~April 25, 2014~~

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is used to getting under people’s skin.

But what he probably thought was a harmless joke (or a deliberate poke at the left) enraged animal rights advocates Wednesday night, April 23, when he tweeted, and posted on Facebook, a photo of him and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) kneeling beside a tiger skin rug.

Did a little shopping for the office with @SenMikeLee in Houston today.”

“If the rug is real, Ted Cruz’s use of it reduces a majestic once-living being to a doormat,” PETA said in an “immediate release.” “Gunning down wildlife in order to make umbrella stands, rugs, and ornaments is frowned upon in the 21st century, as most people have come to learn from and be awe-inspired by the lives, intelligence, and social make-up of other living beings.”

And Bernie Unti, senior policy adviser at the Humane Society of the United States, said, “We fear it’s real, but real or fake, it sends a bad message to the public at a time when we are trying to save the world’s tigers from extinction.

So we can go ahead and assume Cruz lost the animal rights vote?

Why the outcry about Senator Ted Cruz’s photo posing with a tiger skin?

Because fewer than 3,200 endangered tigers exist in the wild and they’re being killed FOR their skins. Like and share this image to educate others about the pervasive threat of poaching for the illegal wildlife trade that is facing the tiger.

Visit www.panthera.org to learn how Panthera’s Tigers Forever program is working to stop poaching ensure that tigers remain in the wild, forever.

I’m not interested in political crap. I’m not interested in the different parties and the fools that are in them. Needless to say, I’m so fed up with ALL of them. Doesn’t matter which
“side of the isle” they are taking about. It has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative.

I think that the older ideologies of being examples to the populace have gone out the window.

This is a matter of a total lack of knowledge and sensitivity to what is happening in the animal kingdom around the world. They show the smug look of a “macho man” who has just returned from a safari and has been successful in hunting an animal who was at a disadvantage all along.

And he takes a picture and proudly shares it on social media.

The tiger skin that he’s proudly showing was once a living, sentient being!!

I don’t care where he got this new “adornment” for his office. IMHO, this is a thoughtless action, that confirms that his head is empty. Think twice … oh, wait .. he doesn’t have that capacity! As a matter of fact, neither one of them do. If they did they would have kept it to themselves or be horrified that this is happening in the world and they are part of it.

I am interested in the fact stated above. This is the reason for the outcry:

“Fewer than 3,200 endangered tigers exist in the wild and they’re being killed FOR their skins”.

~~Mission~~

Panthera’s mission is to ensure the future of wild cats through scientific leadership and global conservation action.

Panthera has brought together the world’s leading wild cat experts to direct and implement effective conservation strategies for the world’s largest and most endangered cats: tigers, lions, jaguars and snow leopards. Our approach to wild cat conservation is rooted in science and based upon decades of first hand field experience.

We seek a future in which the world’s 37 wild cat species have the necessary and ongoing protection from human and environmental threats to persist and thrive in the wild. Our vision sees endangered wild cat populations rebounded, critical habitats and core populations connected by genetic and biological corridors, and a global commitment to protect these iconic species through near and distant futures.

Learn more about specific Panthera programs designed to protect the world’s endangered wild cats.

Why Protect Wild Cats?

Some of the greatest species to ever roam the planet are threatened with extinction.

Panthera focuses on saving wild cat species across the globe because this is a winning strategy for conserving large, functioning ecosystems on which they depend, and  contain thousands of species of plants and animals. Cats act as landscape guardians and their presence indicates healthy, intact ecosystems that are crucial for all life, including people.

While Panthera’s efforts are focused on saving wild cats, the impacts go far beyond.
