More then ever before, audiences online are having a voice. Where once audiences were expected to simpily accept what was said/given/told to them, through the use of social meida and expanding points of internet access, audiences across the world now hold the ability to respond, fight back and becmome activists as they come together creating movements in a demand for change.
These online movements, created by audiences supporting a similar cause isa new type of digital Actavism which uses social media and Internet to aid and promote social cause, also known as Clicktivism. It is argued that Clicktivism isn’t a helpful form of activism as sitting behind a screne and liking, wrtiting or uplaoding about a cause isn’t acutally physically helping the cause. However, the sequent of events that follwed the release of Gabriela Cowperwaite’s documentary Blackfish could argue otherwise.
