Sway With No Play

I am an elephant
Forced to perform in a traveling circus
That is not my element
My herd I was taken from
Alone I have become
I miss my mommies touch
My trunk she would clutch
I am put on display
For their money to be made
In the wrong kind of way
They teach me to obey
My spirit they are trained to break
My dignity they also take

Fifteen years I have already been here
I live in fear
I am beat on my legs with a club
For them to sell a ticket stub
Because I do not know how to sit in this chair
They scream and swear
I am poked with a bull hook
My skin takes on a new look
I am beat with a stick to learn new tricks
In strange positions I am made to sit
They make me stand on my head
Everyday of my life I dread
This is not natural for me
I should be with my family running free

They keep me confined
My legs they bind
Bound by a chain
I am detained
Standing for hours in one spot
My leg forms a knot
With a tight grip
They strike my face with a whip
I stand on my feet for twenty three hours a day
The stress on my body weighs

I am bored
I am ignored
I sway day after day
My life is on replay
In a hot metal trailer I am stuffed
Still one foot cuffed
One hundred degrees of heat
Thousands of miles on this black tar street
Eleven months out of the year
The sound of engines is all I hear
Twenty six hours on the road
No food or water as I am towed
On to the next town
I am still bound

Everyday beaten to perform
My mind eventually transforms
I escape because I am upset
To the public I am a threat
Things are out of control
They call the police patrol
Arriving with their guns in the air
My life they do not spare
Across this nation

Wild animals in circuses are used for exploitation
This could have been prevented
Had this business not been misrepresented
This is my grave because I was never saved
My whole life I was their slave
Wild animals in circuses need to be banned
Take a stand

“This is such bullshit. These animals deserve to be in the wild in their natural habitat.

REQUESTING LEGISLATION BE PASSED IN THE USA TO BAN WILD ANIMALS IN CIRCUSES

USA citizens, Please send my sample letter to your representative in this link  Thank you so much

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing as a constituent to ask for your support of federal legislation to protect wild animals in circuses. Such legislation addresses an important issue that gravely concerns me about the welfare of wild animals forced to perform in traveling circuses.

Careful research and detailed undercover investigations have shown the welfare of animals is unacceptably compromised under the confinement and cruel training practices that are inherent in traveling circuses. Wild, stressed animals in close quarters with the public has proven to be a public safety hazard, with escaped animals both maiming and even killing members of the public, including children. It is also estimated that around 12% of Asian and 2% of African elephants in North America have tuberculosis (TB), a disease transmissible from elephants to humans.

Every time we allow a majestic wild animal to be reduced to a cheap circus trick, we are not just turning a blind eye to cruelty, we are advancing the belief that it is acceptable to be inhumane and setting a poor example for our children. Simply put, animal acts in circuses are antiquated and belong in the past. Entertaining contemporary circuses like Cirque du Soleil prove that the show will go on without abused animals. Cirque du Soleil now has 19 shows in 271 cities, generating an estimated $810 million a year.

Over 20 countries around the world have adopted national legislation prohibiting or restricting the use of wild and exotic animals in circuses, with hundreds of local bans in place worldwide – over 200 in the UK, and hundreds in Europe and South America, as well as Asia. The time is now to act! Please follow the will of your compassionate constituents and be a leader in Congress to work toward protections for circus animals.

Thank you for your public service and I look forward to hearing from you on this important matter.

Sincerely,

~~Circus Animal Cruelty: Abused for Entertainment~~

Trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks and other painful tools of the trade to force animals to perform

In more than 35 dangerous incidents since 2000, elephants have bolted from circuses, run amok through streets, crashed into buildings, attacked members of the public, and killed and injured handlers

Every major circus that uses animals has been cited for violating the minimal standards of care set forth in the United States Animal Welfare Act

On average, circuses travel about 48 weeks per year. And circus animals spend an average of 26 hours in cages during the transport

Virtually 96% of a circus animal’s life is spent in chains or cages.

We ALL are ONE!!
