DANCING WITH THE WIND
These are difficult times, which we are living, in our world. They are baffling as we see human nature change, going towards a precipice from which there is no turning back.
In our own micro-cosmos we see the inexorable journey to the edge.
Extrapolate that to our immediate community, our county, our state, our country and the world, our planet.
We need to remember that this is the only place where the human race can live.
There is no “planet B”.
In addition to that, we see many established “institutions” also changing and not for the better.
The mesh that holds up together is almost totally torn.
We are confused and don’t know how to tackle this, where to start.
We feel alone …. yet, through the expression of these feelings and through the connection that we have through technology, we see that many feel the same.

Remembering these lyrics:
People movin’ out
People movin’ in
Why, because of the color of their skin
Run, run, run, but you sho’ can’t hide
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Vote for me, and I’ll set you free
Air pollution, revolution, gun control,
Sound of soul
Shootin’ rockets to the moon
Kids growin’ up too soon
Politicians say more taxes will
Solve everything
And the band played on ….
Fear in the air, tension everywhere
Unemployment rising fast,
The Beatles’ new record’s a gas
And the only safe place to live is
On an Indian reservation ….
And the band played on
Eve of destruction, tax deduction
City inspectors, bill collectors
Mod clothes in demand,
Population out of hand
Suicide, too many bills, hippies movin’
To the hills
People all over the world, are shoutin’
End the war
And the band played on.

This was the general feeling in 1970 …. where did take the fork in the road which brought us here?
At the end of the day, we need a “time out”. As we feel the pressure of our reality, we need to recharge. We need the energy to go at it again tomorrow and many tomorrows to come. In the meantime, we need soothing inner peace.
I don’t mean to say forget, hide and remain inactive. I don’t propose to ignore what lies ahead of all of us. I mean that we can’t give what we don’t have. To be able to tackle what awaits us, we need to gather ourselves, to gain momentum and fuel our spirits for this daunting task. There’s a lot to unravel, a lot to undo, a lot to rebuild.
I do not believe that we can continue along this pathway much longer.
We need to retreat, recharge and act. We need soothing for our weary, confused and tired souls.

We ALL are ONE!!
I relate to so much of what you have written, Horty.
I have prayed asking for the wisdom to know where and how I can be effective in bringing about change. I have prayed in the spirit of the St. Francis prayer. I have prayed for the ability to use my gift of intuition and common sense effectively in my commitment to stand up against and put the spotlight on the wrongs that exist.
A year ago after the gz verdict I committed myself to reaching out to the white community to educate those possessing an open and willing spirit….to talk about White Privilege, to discuss our nation’s history that has brought us to where we are, to fill in the historical gaps missing in my (and others) high school and college education (that in many instances were left out intentionally by the powers-that-be in our White-powered/institutional society.)
As far as the internet world, even when I know most of the regulars on a blog have read what I have shared earlier, I still repost it or return to it in the hope that new readers to a given blog will see it and gain understanding. I am beginning to question myself as to whether this is an irritation to the regular readers who are always following a particular blog.
Sometimes I feel confused as to what is the best direction for me to take in bringing about change….sometimes I doubt my ability, sometimes I wonder if I am having any success, sometimes I wonder if I am trying to hard. I just don’t know sometimes.
Yet, I can not remain silent. I cannot sit back. My conscience and heart will not let me do that. In whatever manner my abilities might be limited, I still have to be willing to try even though I might discover I have overstretched my God-given abilities in my well-intentioned efforts. When that happens I must then pick myself up again and again and continue in my commitment to bring about change.
Horty, I so appreciate all that you do.
It is wonderful to come to your page where you offer a recharging time-out to bring about a calming of my inner spirit so that, as you say, I (and others) will be able “to tackle what awaits us, we need to gather ourselves, to gain momentum and fuel our spirits for this daunting task. There’s a lot to unravel, a lot to undo, a lot to rebuild.
Hugs ❤

My dear YB, you are doing an excellent job at what you do. You educate, inspire, motivate & move me. I wish somehow that all w/ similar feelings & intentions would connect & gather to “fight” this wring that have deviated us from a true course.
I must confess that many times I feel so discouraged by what is happening, where “they” have taken us & how we have allowed it. Many times I wonder if we’ll b blue to recover! Not only us bit the whole world!
Keep up your awesome tireless effort. It’s working. I understand how you feel bc many times I wonder if what I do helps.
Here’s a very tight, thankful hug for you!!! Love you ..,,. ❤
