CMA Awards 2014: Country singers take aim at Obama again

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley promised early on in the show that nothing was off limits, and they certainly held up their end of that statement, joking about Taylor Swift leaving country behind, Ebola, President Obama, Renée Zellweger, and even Underwood’s pregnancy during the opening monologue of the 48th annual CMA Awards.

The two music stars hosted the 48th annual Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 5, and they began the ceremony with a monologue that took shots at both Obama and the biggest name in music at the moment, Taylor Swift.

If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. That was clearly the route the writers of the 48th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards took Wednesday night.

Taking note from last year’s show, where returning CMA hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood took aim at the then-faulty Healthcare.gov website, nothing was off-limits this year.

Their target this time around? President Obama, again.

“I’ll be the first to say it: President Obama does not care about Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder (PPTSD),” Paisley told his co-host Underwood of the new disorder they say swept the nation when Taylor Swift switched to pop from country.

“I’m pretty sure that’s why the Democrats lost the Senate,” Underwood told a cheering Nashville crowd, which was clearly celebrating the Republicans’ win Tuesday night.

The 48th Annual Country Music Association Awards took a turn to the comedic Wednesday (November 5, 2014) evening, as co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood launched into a skit of Obamacare that sent the audience into loud laughter — and those of liberal ideology into furious and outraged rants on social media.
“Obamacare, what’s that?” said Mr. Paisley, playing a patient with a hurt back, in need of a doctor, Fox News reported.
“Oh, it’s great,” Ms. Underwood said. “I started signing up last Thursday, and I’m almost done.” She then invited Mr. Paisley to sign up for Obamacare and “join the six other people” who’ve already done so, Fox News said.
The duo then launched into a rendition of George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning,” but with a slight switch of words: “Obamacare by morning, why’s this taking so long? I’m going to end up with hemorrhoids, if I sit here ’til dawn.”

Supporters of Obamacare weren’t happy.

I’m just going to state that I’m no fan of country music, with very few exceptions. I don’t care what Taylor Swift does with her life … she should be free to go where there is more profit. I didn’t watch the CMA Awards Show either … all of these shows are boring and long.

However, I do remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks … and it came mostly from the country music fans. 

In my humble opinion, this is not a topic to be joking about. Learn the fact before blasting the “law of the land” and before digging at the “office of the President” of the USA.
