Noah Galloway dedicates ‘DWTS’ dance to difficult recovery

During “Dancing With the Stars” on Monday, April 6, war veteran Noah Galloway dedicated an emotional modern dance to a time he’ll never forget.

It was 2005 — the year a violent roadside bomb blast in Iraq claimed his left arm and left leg and his long road to recovery began.

“I got to where I’d just sit at home by myself and drink and try to cope with it by myself. Biggest mistake I ever made,” Galloway said.

Galloway admitted he battled with extreme depression while recovering from his injuries.

He was very athletic and physical before the accident, and he feared he had lost everything when he lost his arm and leg. But one day, Galloway looked in the mirror and decided to focus on what he did have left instead of what he had lost.

And his emotional performance reflected his difficult journey of acceptance from the man he was to the man he is today.

Galloway and partner Sharna Burgess‘ dance had the audience on their feet and cheering. It even brought judges Julianne Hough and Carrie Ann Inaba to tears during their rave reviews of the routine.
