A scary thought but things seem to be escalating rather then calming down now that we recognize the problem. It is shameful & sad that some people cannot accept we are all in this together. To oppose someone b/c of differences is an insane way of thinking and being. Humanity is what we need. Humans are born equal and equality should be a given not a special treatment only for the few.
I freak when I see the cops, though I haven’t done a thing wrong. Somehow their presence makes one think one has. I have an innate sense of wanting to be safe so whenever I have had any encounters with the cops I am as subservient as possible as not to agitate them. They do come across as pompous and scary. Their authority, in your mind, is endless and they can make your life miserable if they so desire. Best to keep off the grass. Only joking about the last statement. I am a legal toker in my state. Still best to be careful no matter the color of your skin. Cops are getting scarier all the time. Kent State comes to mind. Happened on 4/20 – Pot Day – Columbine – Waco – Oklahoma Bombing [connected but one day off if my memory is correct]. I think Cop shows try to lull us into complicity with their methods but TV is a dream world and not the real world and no is like that in real life. It is a form of brain washing, if you think about it.
Shaking my head! I can remember all the events you listed.
Been reading a book about the history of my county & the police there were bad! Scary … don’t think it’s changed! Underpaid, overworked, corrupt and pre-potent.
History is important to know. It helps those who pay attention but unfortunately those who need to listen don’t hear or care what happened in the past, they just want to go on repeating it. It makes the dogmatic thinkers feel contentment knowing things remain the same. If they changed, the dogma would have to disappear. We all know the lack of free thinkers in this country. It is where the major problems lie.
I wish it were possible to fire all those in authority and start all over from the top on down, replacing everyone with those who have a sense of humanity and can bring justice to all. A wonderful dream, illusive and close to impossible. Revolutions start out working but then for some reason people in power get crazy and start killing everyone who don’t agree with them. A circle within a circle of continuous insanity I’m afraid. I really am Afraid. Will it ever really change? Or does it only change inside of those who believe?
I am of the belief we can only change from within our self and hope what we do has a positive ripple effect. Thinking of changing the whole world is too overwhelming. One fact is true, at least not as many people died since the end of WWII and terrorism. Violence is terrible and many things need working out. Two important events need to happen: 1st – Neuter the Military Industrial Complex. 2nd – End the Prison Industrial Complex. That would be a start. Ah, and 3rd – End the War on Drugs. These apply to the USA and the rest of the world where these need to be reigned in. Sound like a good start? Now how to accomplish it.
These 3 steps sound smile when written but it’s quite a task. I do agree … Like you, how to start & then accomplish it? Umm … The military complex almost impossible. Too many interests there. Same apply to the prison system. The more prisoners, the more $$$ …. The war on drugs? Ditto … In our world, kinda hard. But yes, that would be an excellent start!
It feels like the tension in the US is heading in the direction of some sort of revolution. It may not start out violent but one day the demonstrators are going to take one too many blows and they are going to lose sight of MLK & Gandhi. It’s a given with all undertakings that when pressed to the limits we revolt and more than have to change things, we need to change things. It isn’t far that the highest % of money belongs to the lowest # of people, the 1%. The tides need to turn. If the cops keep pushing and the prisons grow too crowded, THERE IS GOING TO BE AN EXPLOSION. JMT (just me thinking), but seriously.
Viva la Revolution!
A good cleansing and a reset and restart shall begin again with all corrected and the nature of the planet is Healthy once again. Brava. Bravo. Perfect!
The insanity continues with the cops vs anyone Black. Will it ever end?

I agree … it’s them vs us mentality. My stepson is a policeman and it’s difficult to hear him talk sometimes. We all are one!!

Agree! Sadly I believe it only changes inside those who believe. And it’s an uphill battle!

I agree. Every day there’s something new, all over the country. Matter of fact, I think it’s needed.
