There is probably not a single human in the U.S.A. who has yet to hear about the demise of Cecil the lion.  Cecil, a male lion who lived in the  in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe, Africa, was a major attraction at the Hwange National Park and was being studied and tracked by Oxford University as part of a larger study.

On 1 July 2015,  Cecil  was shot and killed by Walter Palmer, an American recreational big-game hunter, who had brutally wounded the lion with an arrow, some 40 hours earlier. The internet blew up with stories and comments about the killing, drawing international media attention, and sparking outrage around the world.  Public, politicians and celebrities have called for action against Palmer, who has been forced to…

When Richard Blanco read his poem “One Today” at President Obama’ssecond inauguration in 2013, he was the first immigrant, Latino and openly gay poet to do so.

Mr. Blanco, 47, was born in Spain and raised in Miami by parents who left Fidel Castro’s Cuba. His book “The Prince of Los Cocuyos: A Miami Childhood,” was published last year. With Ruth Behar, a Cuban-born writer and professor at the University of Michigan, he started a blog,Bridges to/from Cuba, to foster dialogue between Cubans on the island and those of the diaspora.

He recently shared his insights about visiting Cuba as it and the United States start normalizing relations. Following are edited excerpts.

When conservatives speak of the ‘liberal news’ they are usually referring to ABC, CBS, NBC and MSNBC.

To Liberals, MSNBC has been a joke for years especially starting the day with ‘Morning Joe Scarborough’.

Basicly it was just FOX as JOE shouted down everyone to the point the rest of the crew, usually Liberal, just sat on their hands.

No change to Morning Joe but the weaker ‘beat a story to death’ daily shows are gone.

‘MSNBC has formally decided to cancel three programs — “The Cycle,” “Now with Alex Wagner” and “The Ed Show” — as part of a larger effort to shift its daytime lineup away from opinion programming, network sources told the On Media blog on Thursday’.
