CLERK CONTINUES TO REFUSE CIVIL MARRIAGE LICENSES
It was a beautiful day, June 26, 2015, when SCOTUS confirmed marriage equality nationwide.
On that day, it became “the law of the land“.
It was a momentous win which had entailed plenty of work from individuals, organizations, grassroots.
This day confirmed the equality of love.
“LOVE IS LOVE”

These and many other hashtags and phrases where coined that day.
Many memes were circulated online.
Yet, we all knew that this would only be the beginning. Remember the baker, remember the florists, remember the conservative politicians?
WHAT DO YOU CALL SOMEONE WHO REFUSES TO FOLLOW THE LAW?
Religious zealot, stubborn mule, fanatic, hypocrite, criminal
I’m a strong believer that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, opinions and thoughts. Yet, at the same time, no one should impose any of these on others.
This is the kind of divisive talk that keeps this society so polarized.
This talk and these actions are dangerous.
Rather than living in peace, discord, threats, inequality, discrimination and violence ensues.
This clerk has taken it upon herself to disobey the “law of the land”.
She gone to several courts stating that she only obeys and recognizes “God’s authority”.
Come to find out that she’s been married four times! Where’s the sanctity of marriage here? I don’t judge her four failed marriages.
I’m sure those seeking licenses from her don’t either.
Excuse you me, but if this isn’t plain and simple hypocrisy, what is?

Kentucky Clerk Denies Same-Sex Marriage Licenses, Defying Court
MOREHEAD, KENTUCKY
A county clerk in Kentucky who objects to same-sex marriage on religious grounds denied licenses to gay couples on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, saying she was acting “under God’s authority,” just hours after the Supreme Court refused to support her position.
In a raucous scene in this little town, two same-sex couples walked into the Rowan County Courthouse, trailed by television cameras and chanting protesters on both sides of the issue, only to be turned away by the county clerk, Kim Davis.
As one couple, David Ermold and David Moore, tried to engage her in an argument, Ms. Davis said several times that her office would not issue any marriage licenses.
“Under whose authority?” Mr. Ermold asked.
“Under God’s authority,” she replied.
Ms. Davis, who took office in January, said later in the day in a statement released by her lawyers that she had received death threats, but that she would neither resign nor relent.
“To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God’s definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience,” she said. “
It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience.
I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue.
It is about marriage and God’s word.”

I have a problem with holier-than-thou folks like Davis. That woman has a job and if she finds it conflicts with her religion, she should get another job.

Days she won’t. And won’t resign. She was elected …. Needs impeachment. She’s wasting all this $$ too.
Check a reblog by Padre Steve. There’s info about her lawyer … very interesting. He’s using her for his purposes. Seems he’s very much right wing fundamentalist, etc.

I heard that the court called her in for contempt. I don’t yet know if it’s civil or criminal contempt. I read Padre Steve’s blog. Very informative.
Still trying to catch up here — having computer problems and just got a new computer that has to be setup, so sorry for the late response.

Of course keeping in mind, this woman according to her religion is committing adultery and should be stoned to death in the town square. I wonder how that sits with her religious belief?
Why does she still have a job?

Yep! I read somewhere that she can’t b fired be she was elected. She has to resign or b impeached. Unbelievable, right? She’s not issuing ANY licenses, not even straight couples. She’s the “boss” there. Seems no one is getting married in that county.
Check a reblog by Padre Steve …. more info.
She’s braking the law … Isn’t that being a criminal?

This idiot woman who has some fanatical belief in the Sky Fairy needs to have her sorry ass thrown in jail. Separation of church and state is a basic right in the United States and she is working FOR THE STATE! She has no right to impose her superstition on society. Throw her ass in jail and appoint a new clerk who will follow the law, not some mindless superstition. Kentucky: The same state that gave us that right wing industry hack Mitch McConnell and the “Creation Museum” that shows people riding on dinosaurs because “the Earth is only a few thousand years old”. I wish religious fruitcakes would grow up enough to face the fact that we aren’t as “special” as we’d like to think we are and are much more on our own than they wan’t to believe. Grow up, religious freaks!
