Today, in front of the iconic Stonewall Inn,U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Congressman Jerrold Nadler, the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), state and local elected officials, advocacy groups and community leaders launched a new campaign to designate the nation’s first national park site dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) history at Stonewall.
The national campaign launch has been organized outside of the historic Stonewall Inn and Christopher Park, in New York City’s Greenwich Village, where the modern LGBT equal rights movement began in the summer of 1969.
