A Puerto Rican treasure … Boricua pride!!
José “Chegüi” Torres was a great champion.
He was the light-heavyweight champion of the world in the mid 1960s, with a record of 41 wins, 3 losses and 29 knockouts.
He was also a great journalist, author, and sports commentator.
There was something more about Chegüi. All his friends knew it. People who met him, realized it very quickly.
Chegüi would give just about anyone the shirt off his back. He was a decent man who could shock you, with his simple acts of kindness.
There aren’t many like him.
