At the end of the day …. “Jon Schmidt’s: Game Day”!!

JON SCHMIDT’S GAME DAY

A beautiful way to end a long day

… under the spell of Jon’s magic hands and the awesome keyboard which he masters.

I believe this is one of his early compositions before “The Piano Guys” became the YouTube sensation they currently are.

I had the pleasure to watch them live, in concert.

It was an unforgettable evening.

I just found this video today.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The Piano Guys are an American musical group consisting of Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson, and Al van der Beek. They gained popularity through YouTube, where they posted piano and cello renditions of popular songs and classical music.

Schmidt and Nelson‘s music is accompanied by professional-quality videos shot and edited by Paul Anderson and formerly by Tel Stewart.

Paul Anderson owned a piano shop in St. George, Utah. He met musician Jon Schmidt as the latter walked in to ask if he could practice there for an upcoming concert. Months later, Paul Anderson and Tel Stewart (then just for fun) started making videos together with Jon Schmidt. It was not too long after that they did their first collaboration with Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, and Al Van Der Beek as the studio and music technician. After the five of them started collaborating the group really started to take off, producing a music video each week and posting it to YouTube.

… and the rest is history!

ONE CHILD FOR THE SAKE OF MANY: Justifying Collateral Damage, it’s Not Just a Military Thing

It’s always “collateral damage” isn’t it? And it shouldn’t be … one is TOO many!!

Challenging the Rhetoric

By Cheri Roberts of Challenging the Rhetoric and Cheri Speak

The term “collateral damage” is most often used or heard in discussions related to military actions, but it is not exclusive to military or military engagement. In fact, every day collateral damage takes place around us wherever we are. Sometimes we become a part of it. The unintendeddamage, injury, or death to an untended person caused by an action, regardless of any so-called good intentions, is collateral damage.

So what, besides war, causes collateral damage?

Vaccines Cause Collateral Damage

collateral-damage-children-fbi-war-vaccines Graphic Stock license

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for every one million doses of vaccine that was distributed from 2006 to 2014, 1 individual was compensated for damages for a total of 1,876 persons compensated. And since Since 1988 the total compensation paid over the life of the vaccine program is approximately $3.18 billion.

Donald Trump’s race-baiting is about to get even uglier: How he’s dragging the GOP to a hideous new low

Did anyone expect any different from the “hairy clown”?

SALON

Although we are still a full year removed from the 2016 presidential election, the Republican Party primary long ago reached such depths of Know Nothing absurdity that the 2012 contest, which was widely understood to have been an extravaganza of embarrassment , is starting to look relatively dignified. Even quaint.

Yes, 2012 inspired more than a few moments when it was hard to tell if the campaign was real or an especially broad piece of satire. There was “Ubeki-beki-beki-stan-stan,” and “severe” conservatism, and warnings of the “dangerous consequences” of a simple vaccine. But for all the things he is, Newt Gingrich is not Donald Trump; when he attacks a debate moderator, he prefers to aim above the belt.

Literally and figuratively, Trump chooses a different approach. He’s been officially campaigning for president for only about four months — but what a…

A Gay Dad Sounds Off About the Kansas Teacher Who is Getting Fired for Fighting Homophobia

“Mr. Leahy, you must not resign.” … what is wrong with this world?? Hiding reality and true life from kids isn’t going to prevent them from finding the truth … and maybe the wrong way. Please … open your minds to kindness and compassion!!

Tom Leahy, who teaches social studies at the Conway Springs Middle School in Kansas admits he made some mistakes. He showed teens a film depicting suicide. He showed teens a film that specifically called out the Catholic Church for criticism. He did not give them warning, a chance to opt out, and he did not have their parents’ permission to show the film.

He made some mistakes because he was deeply disturbed by the bullying and homophobic culture he saw evidenced by his eighth graders. As he sought to drive home the point, he cut some corners, which have now landed him in trouble.

Here is why he was so stressed to impact the point of view of his kids: a recent social studies exercise had gone horrifically wrong. He had split the students into groups and told them that they were each a fictional colony. They were to…

Something to think about …. “Your Silent Presence …. “!!

Someone

~~November 4, 2015~~

AFTER THE STORM

The storms may come and limbs may break;
Yet others bend beneath the weight
Of heavy rain and windy breeze …
A storm can mark

the strongest trees.
Life sometimes deals with us this way;
In unseen trials we meet each day.
It’s not how much our bodies break
Or how much they may bend;
It’s our outlook in our own fife
That helps our spirits mend!

WiFi

~~November 4, 2015~~

NO WI-FI IN NATURE

I’m aware there’s a grammatical error in the graph.

It should read: “there’s no wi-fi in Nature“.

Yet, you get the message.

The best way to be connected and centered is by immersing yourself in Nature.

HortyRex©

GoldSwirl

Whether one is watching a thrilling thunderstorm or looking up at a mighty tree, the experience of nature is one of awe. One cannot help but marvel at the intricate design of a single leaf, or the roar of a great waterfall.

Time spent in nature is time spent realizing that you don’t know it all and that you never will.

The earth is meant to be enjoyed by its inhabitants.

That includes keeping it in the pristine condition in which it was discovered. Everyone has a part of the earth that they relate to the most. Whether it is a majestic mountain range, a roaring waterfall, a bouquet of flowers, or the calm of the woods, these are places to get to know oneself and build bonds with family.

IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”

Puerto Rico is a frog, being boiled alive

OMG!! I missed this one … this is an important one!! What an analogy!! I so hope that “the frog” does jump out!!!

WAR AGAINST ALL PUERTO RICANS

War Against All Puerto Ricans: Revolution and Terror in America’s Colony

Drop a frog into a pot of boiling water, and the frog will hop right out.

Drop the same frog into cool water, heat the pot slowly, and the frog will stay inside…until it boils to death.

This is happening right now in Puerto Rico.

For the past ten years, the island’s heat has been rising…electricity hikes…property tax hikes…three gasoline tax hikes…an 11.5% sales tax…teachers laid off…200 schools closed…pensions rolled back…

Over a million Boricuas fled the island as a result. This was the escape valve…but now, the water has reached a boiling point.

THE BOILING OF PUERTO RICO

Two weeks ago, the Puerto Rico legislature privatized the public school system.

RFPs were also issued for the privatization of PREPA, with a built-in 4.2 cent rate hike as an inducement to corporate bidders.

A five-member Financial Control Board is now under consideration by the island legislature. This Board will rule…

THE WEEK

1. Leaders of Taiwan and China to meet for first time in 66 years
The leaders of mainland China and Taiwan this weekend are meeting for the first time since before 1949, when Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalists lost the Chinese civil war to Mao Zedong’s Communists. The historic discussions between Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Singapore come after eight years of preparatory contact among lower-level officials. The two sides are expected to discuss improving relations, but not sign any agreements.

2. Outsider Republican Matt Bevin wins governor’s race in Kentucky
Republican Matt Bevin, a political novice and Tea Party favorite, beat Democrat Jack Conway, the state’s attorney general, on Tuesday to win the governor’s race in Kentucky. Bevin received just under 53 percent of the vote and Conway 44 percent, according to…
