The way it was …. honoring their child the best they could!!
This photo was taken in 1946 in the town of Fajardo, by Jack Delano.
When a child from a poor family died, their families would sometimes hold a funeral procession through the street, and into the final resting place.
You might see a small family carrying a small box, giving honors to their lost child.
They didn’t have money for a funeral van, or for a large viewing…so they carried their child to the grave, and said a few prayers over her.
