More on the “situation” in part of the Middle East!
ISIS IS NO LONGER IN CONTROL OF TIKRIT, SINJAR AND RAMADI.
For a review, Iraqi forces have taken back several cites from ISIS including, Tikrit in April 2015; Sinjar in November 2015; and now Ramadi in December 2015. Since August, 2015, they are still in a battle over Fallujah with ISIS. And then they plan to overtake Mosul which has been under ISIS control since June, 2014.
The territories of Tikrit and Fallujah are populated with mostly Sunnis Muslims while the Iraqi military is comprised of mostly Shia Muslims, reflecting the majority population in Iraq. Sinjar was populated by the large minority group pf Yazadis, many who were killed and the women kidnapped, allotted and sold for sexual enslavement.
With the recapture of Ramadi from ISIS dominion, steps have been taken to insure that the Iraqi Shia militia did not instigate retaliatory measures against the Sunnis peoples as is alleged to have occurred in Tikrit.
