IOTD …. Image of the day, #418 …. “Getting the Box Ready”!!

THREE KINGS DAY EVE

Today is a very special day for me. It brings back memories of my childhood and how we celebrated the night before Three Kings Days.

As a child, I use to get my box ready. We all went out to the yard, gathered grass and filled the box.  Before going to sleep, we put the box under our beds. The excitement of the night spread to one and all.

Day brake couldn’t come soon enough.

As soon as we woke up, we looked under the bed. The gifts were always the best. December 25 was the “test drive” for Christmas. January 6 was the “real deal”.

As grandmothers, we are trying to instill this tradition in our four grandchildren. Even though their main celebration is Christmas, we have gather on January 6 and open the presents that the Magis will leave for them tonight.

(As adults, we’d rather leave presents in the box and hope the Magi packs the box with “grass“! …. LOL).

In the spirit of the season, we wish you a Happy Three Kings Day!
