Not even a full day after controversy erupted over the brutal execution by police officers of a Black man – Alton Sterling – who was selling CDs in front of a Convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a police officer in Falcon Heights, Minnesota shot and killed a 32 year old by the name of Philando Castile in front of his girlfriend and daughter. As Castile breathed the last moments of his life, his girlfriend Lavish Reynolds live-streamed what was happening live on Facebook for the world to bear witness.

Castile along with his girlfriend and young daughter were pulled over because of a broken tail-light. During the encounter the as-of-yet unnamed officer told Castile to produce his identification (why officers feel the need to ask passengers for identification as opposed to just the person driving the vehicle is suspicious), to which he proceeded to comply. I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs.
