Hamilton’ cast follows long tradition in mixing art, politics

Mixing politics and the theater is hardly new, despite the dustup regarding the hit musical “Hamilton” and the incoming Trump Administration. As you may have heard, Vice President-Elect Mike Pence attended a performance last weekend of the musical based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, the brilliant, Caribbean-born founding father who was the architect of our nation’s financial system.

At the end of the performance, the cast addressed a statement to Pence saying they were “alarmed and anxious” that the Trump administration would not protect a diverse America and hoped it would “work on behalf of all of us.”

Pence later said he was not bothered by it, but President- Elect Donald Trump tweeted that it was “very rude” and said Pence had been “harassed.” He called on the cast to apologize.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs.
