Pudge is in! Ivan Rodriguez is voted into the Hall of Fame

This is a big deal for Puerto Ricans!! Good news …
‘Yesterday, on the very first ballot, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He is only the fourth Puerto Rican to receive this honor.’

Yesterday, on the very first ballot, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. 

He is only the fourth Puerto Rican to receive this honor. The other three were Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda and Roberto Alomar…


Pudge’s career is something to be proud of. He was on 14 All-Star teams and won 13 Gold Glove Awards during a 21-year career. His lifetime batting average was .296 and he hit 311 home runs. His fielding percentage was .991. He caught 661 attempted base stealers…sent all of them back to the dugout.

He is also the career leader among all catchers, in the entire history of the game, in all of the following categories:

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected.
