Edel Rodríguez … awesome job! Perfect depiction!
There has been a flurry of articles regarding the controversial anti-Trump artwork on the cover of Der Spiegel, drawn by Cuban-born artist Edel Rodríguez. The illustration, says the press, “perhaps sums up the pulse of many in Germany, depicting the new US president carrying a knife in one hand and holding the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty, the ultimate symbol of freedom, in the other.”
Diario de Cuba writes: Edel Rodríguez was born in Havana in 1971; in 1980 he emigrated with his family from Cuba to Miami during the Mariel exodus. The designer graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York in 1994 and a program at Hunter College in 1998. He has exhibited at international exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Toronto, and Madrid. Rodríguez’s paintings and graphic art are regularly published in The New Yorker, The New York Times
