Since long before the inauguration on 20 January, we have been focused on a series of news stories that keep us all reading, watching, listening, and for some of us, writing until long after the candles have burned low.  For the last two weeks or so, the big stories have surrounded Mike Flynn, who was forced to resign just 24 days after being sworn in as National Security Advisor, Jeff Sessions, who lied under oath about possible Russian connections and meetings, and Jared Kushner.  We have focused on the confirmation process for a number of Trump’s cabinet selections, including Sessions, DeVos, Pruitt and others.  We have followed closely Trump’s disastrous ban on travelers from seven Middle Eastern, primarily Muslim nations and its aftermath.  But with our attention pulled in so many different directions, trying to stay abreast of the important things and the trivial as well, like Trump’s Trivial Tweets, we…

1. Trump accuses Obama of spying on Trump Tower
President Trump on Saturday made a four-tweet accusation that former President Obama spied on him in the run-up to the 2016 election. “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” Trump began, suggesting that Obama — a “Bad (or sick) guy!” — could be prosecuted for illegal surveillance if there was a “good lawyer” to make a “great case.” Trump’s tweetstorm appears to be inspired by the Thursday evening show of right-wing talk radio host Mark Levin, who argued Obama orchestrated a “silent coup” on Trump using “police state” tactics. You remember that one company that used to stuff your mailbox full of coasters installation discs every single goddamn day of the week, your only reprieve from the madness being Sunday? Well, America Online finally discovered what it takes to be relevant: apparently Mike Pence uses it.

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Star revealed that not only did the Vice President use private email — something for which Donald Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, was demonized — but he conducted state business on an insecure, almost-forgotten service that was presumed dead long ago. Unlike Hillary Clinton’s private email server, Pence’s AOL account was hacked.

Clinton was spotted on a flight from Boston to New York on Friday and a passenger managed to catch the very moment the former Secretary of State saw the USA Today headline about Pence’s private email. The passenger sent the photo to friends…
