The ‘Free Press’ is in peril … WAKE UP!! It’s time to put an end to this madness indeed! 😳

Filosofa's Word

The Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to bare the secrets of government and inform the people. – Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black

Contrary to what Donald Trump has claimed repeatedly, the press is not the ‘enemy of the people’.  The press does its job to inform the people of what is happening in the government we support, both financially and with our votes, as well as what is happening around the world.  Sometimes they make mistakes, sometimes perhaps they cross a line, but for the most part, they are our lifeline to the world and to our own government.  Without them, we would have become a dictatorship many years ago, I think.

Donald Trump showed no love for the press, putting them down, mocking, and criticizing at every turn during his campaign.  Some believed that once he took office he would find ways to…

a fugitive breeze, a rustle of leaves, choral insects

In silence, we find ourselves!! “In Pursuit of Silence” … ❤️

Live & Learn

Quiet, please.

In contrast to “Baby Driver,” with its high-decibel cacophony, this week also brings Patrick Shen’s “In Pursuit of Silence.” It isn’t really silence that’s being pursued in this beguiling, meditative and elegantly photographed documentary. As one murmuring head after another observes, absolute silence can’t be achieved in these earthly precincts, and doesn’t warrant chasing after in any case. What’s de-stressing for the body and nourishing for the soul is quiet that contains benign sounds—a fugitive breeze, a rustle of leaves, choral insects, a bird sending signals from the far reaches of a serene acoustic surround.  The film begins with a tribute to “4’33,” the seminal composition by John Cage in which music is not played—by a pianist, or a full orchestra—for the four minutes and 33 seconds of the title. In Mr. Shen’s evocative sequence, words are not spoken but, if you listen carefully, sounds of nature and even human…

July 4, 2017 …. “😳 Just Another Day …. first time in my life …. 😳 …. !””

~~July 3, 2017~~

Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago on July 4, 1776.

There’s always been a big celebration for this special American holiday.

I’m finding it difficult to get in the spirit of things.

I believe that there’s a collective sense of depression in this country since November 2016.

My therapist and I talk plenty about this topic.

It’s been interesting and, not totally surprising, that two respectable, knowledgeable and amazing fellow bloggers have posted to the effect that this year the sense of euphoria, happiness and celebration has dimmed significantly.

I join them in that feeling.

I thought is was only me and it’s somewhat redeeming that others may share my feelings.

Sane Americans who possess a sense of empathy, compassion, pride, accomplishment, morality, and so much more, may feel the same.

I’d be interested to know.

It’s beyond sad, America, that is has come to this.

Just Another Day … 04 July 2017

We are Human

Robert G

We ALL are ONE!!

We are Human

In a sense, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one feeling this way … this isn’t the America I once loved and respected! This is an America I don’t recognize – seems it was like this all along but well hidden – I’ve been fooled all this time. The mask is off! I can’t celebrate this America either. As a member of the LGBTQ community I’ve been waiting in a full front assault to our community!
As another awesome blogger posted: “July 4, 2017 … just another day’!

Art by Rob Goldstein

I’m depressed this weekend and I don’t think I’m alone.

I feel overwhelmed by life in the United States.

How sad to watch intelligent people defend the rise of cruelty,  lies, and chaos.

Trumpism plays havoc with my DID because this is the abusive world of my childhood: the racist bullies with swastikas and white robes; homophobes who murdered gay  men with impunity.

The 1960’s was a time when it seemed only straight, white male lives mattered but we did have a government that imposed  the rule of law; we did have a government the people could petition for change.

The Trump Administration has declared war on human rights and the rule of law.

His cult members no longer recognize their brothers and sisters as human.

The United States has a sickness and it’s destroying our lives.

I’m going to take a short break this holiday because I need to…
