Lares: Exodus From a Historic Puerto Rican Town, With No End in Sight

This is so sad!! My heart aches … as the reality sinks in. My country is slowly but steadily shrinking, declining and fading away!

Repeating Islands

A report by Frances Robles for the New York Times.

This picturesque mountain town, renowned for its rich coffee, peculiar ice cream and a historic, if short-lived, rebellion, now has a far less welcome distinction.

bury one’s head in the sand
and hide one’s head in the sand; have one’s head in the sand

Fig. to ignore or hide from obvious signs of danger.

(Alludes to an ostrich, which is believed incorrectly to hide its head in a hole in the ground when it sees danger.)

If we manage to survive as a constitutional democracy, I want them to be punished for this.
