A PICTURE, A MEME SAYS A THOUSAND WORDS

In light of the recent violent and fatal events in Charlottesville, Virginia, my blogger friend Martin created this graphic.

These are deep words which ring so true and evoke strong emotions.

I’m honored and proud to share it here with you.

  1. I did not live during WWII, my parents and grandparents, however, were fully aware of everything that happened and told about it in great and often gruesome detail. They did so (just as many other parents and grandparents in my country and across Europe) to make sure we would understand the dangers of hate and prejudice, so we understood how crazy people with crazy ideas get into power. To this day, whenever I see a WWII veteran, I will go out of my way to make sure he (or she) is feeling welcome, knows how grateful we are and tbh I get a bit emotional. Without these men and woman, I would not have had the freedoms I have today, without these men and woman my family, friends, and neighbors might have been “unwanted elements” or worse.. been in jail or a camp (not talking school or scout camp here). Without these men and woman my beloved red, white and blue would have an ugly swastika in its place. I can NEVER, EVER thank these brave souls enough. The only way for me to honor these people is to speak out and stand up for what they fought for and I will do so till my dying breath
