Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey …. “🏡 Catastrophic Mudslides in thier Neighborhood of Montecito, California 🏡 …. “!!

~~January 11, 2018~~

Mother Earth seems to be speaking through many events.

It may be time for the human residents to heed Her message.

From Category 4-5 hurricanes, significant drought, threatening wild fires to earthquakes. What more can Mother Earth say?

Montecito is an unincorporated census-designated place in Santa Barbara County, California. It is the wealthiest community in the county.

As a census-designated place, Montecito had a population of 8,965 in 2010.

Some of Montecito’s famous residents – Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey – are speaking out about the devastating mudslides that have ravaged Southern California.

The one-two punch of fire and downpour-fueled debris flows have debilitated the affluent, picturesque community of about 10,000 people. The slides have killed at least 17, destroyed an estimated 100 homes and sent rescuers scrambling through the rubble searching for dozens who are missing.

“This room is always so full of positivity and love and today, I really need it,”

DeGeneres told the audience of her daytime talk show Thursday, January 11.

“One of the things that I want to talk about is you know, we’ve had these terrible fires all over California and one of the hardest hit areas is where I live in Montecito,” she continued.

DeGeneres said following the blazes, she was able to return to her house at the tail-end of last month. She said she was filled with pride to see signs throughout the community of people expressing their gratitude to firefighters and first responders.

“I just love this place,” she said.

How Democracies Die …

THIS … I will never forget …
‘Trump’s surprise victory was made possible not only by public disaffection but also by the Republican Party’s failure to keep an extremist demagogue from gaining the nomination.
“Yet, when it came to it, every serving Republican leader – McCain, McConnell, Rubio, Ryan and Cruz – put party before country and endorsed a demagogue they knew was a threat to free institutions.”

democracies die -3There is a new book coming out on Tuesday, 16 January 2017.  No, this one isn’t a juicy tell-all like last week’s Fire and Fury by Michael Wolff, but rather a. provocative analysis of the parallels between Donald Trump’s ascent and the fall of other democracies.  The book is written by two Harvard professors of political science, Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, who have spent more than twenty years studying the breakdown of democracies in Europe and Latin America.

In the book, Levitsky and Ziblatt identify four criteria that warn a leader is on a path toward authoritarianism:

  1. The leader shows only a weak commitment to democratic rules.
  2. He or she denies the legitimacy of opponents.
  3. He or she tolerates violence.
  4. He or she shows some willingness to curb civil liberties or the media.

“A politician who meets even one of these criteria is cause for concern. With the exception…

Do You Understand The Twitter Use?

Excellent!! Thanks so much for the links … a ‘must read’ ….

In Saner Thought

The man that has given the social media gizmo a purpose….Trump and the use of Twitter……There are many many opinions on why he is so prolific in using the social media…..some say it is how he relates to his followers…..others think it is something different….

Over the past two years, Trump’s Twitter habits have been honed and polished into an art form. And really, he is a master at it. Maybe after Mueller takes him down, he can write “The Art of the Tweet.” Until then, Americans will continue to reel from unfiltered posts like his most recent threats to North Korea and play the absurd game of trying to tell if our lives are immediately under threat or not.

But one scholar of linguistics and philosophy has masterfully deciphered the strategy behind Trump’s tweets, and it’s just the tool we need going into 2018.
