My country … in my mind, heart and soul!! I ache for thee …
A guide by Kathleen Squires for New York Magazine.
From the time of Taino Indian cave drawings, art has been ingrained into the island of Puerto Rico. The vast collection at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico offers a wonderful overview of the evolution of island art, while the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Puerto Ricoholds a peerless collection of modern Caribbean works. And art lovers everywhere are looking forward to the second MECA International Art Fair, which focuses on Caribbean artists, being held in San Juan this November. But art is everywhere — with murals adorning buildings, sculptures gracing parks, and even a colorful mosaic of former governor Luis Muñoz Marin greeting visitors at the airport. Here, locals share their favorite places to take in all the beauty, whether in conventional galleries or on the street.

Thanks for sharing! What great memories it brings. I love the arts. Some of these I remember. Some of these areas appear to have been revitalized by the artist community. Its been about 20 years since I was there last. I dont think I could find my way around. I wrote a post a few weeks ago about where my favorite writing spot would be it was there a loft in Old San Juan next to La Mallorca. I hope they can get the rest of the island ready for hurricane season. All the best

Hi there!! You have been to Puerto Rico, Old San Juan? … I was just there, 9 months after the Hurricane. It was a bittersweet trip … I left in 1999 but traveled back frequently.
Going back this time … all changed in so many ways!!
Thx for your warm comment …. __/l\__ ❤ …
