SCOTUS Affirms Bigotry in Devastating Muslim Travel Ban Decision

‘In affirming Drumpf’s bigoted Muslim Ban, the Supreme Court has given a green light to religious discrimination and animus. Not since key decisions on slavery, segregation in schools, and Japanese American incarceration, have we seen a decision that so clearly fails to protect those most vulnerable to government-led discrimination. ‘

The U.S. Supreme Court, in Trump vs. State of Hawaii, upheld, (5-4)-  President Donald Trump’s travel ban restricting, an executive order that suspends refugee resettlement and permanently prohibits citizens of six Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States on the basis of their nationalities.

The court’s decision overturned a preliminary injunction and remanded the case for further proceedings. The court, however, did not address the propriety of the scope of the nationwide injunction—the U.S. Justice Department had urged the justices to check the power of trial judges to issue national injunctions.

“[T]he government has set forth a sufficient national security justification to survive rational basis review. We express no view on the soundness of the policy. We simply hold today that plaintiffs have not demonstrated a likelihood of success on the merits of their constitutional claim,” Chief Justice John Roberts…

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs.
