A Woman’s Right …

My stance on abortion insists on the fact that this is a very personal decision!
Yet, I’ve been worrying about all other human rights issues that may fall by the wayside if this court turns to the right … Like the author, ‘I call on the US Senate to block any Drumpf nominee for the vacant seat on the Supreme Court. Every woman in this country stands to lose if they do not. Every member of the LGBT community stands to lose. Every Jew, Muslim, Hindi, atheist or agnostic stands to lose. We the People stand to lose.’
IT COULDN’T BE MORE IMPORTANT … ‘First they came’ … and so on!!

Filosofa's Word

It is likely that the fight over the next Supreme Court nominee will boil down to a single issue:  abortion.  Some claim that the entire 2016 election was largely about the issue of abortion and a lead-up to this moment. Now mind you, the abortion issue as per the historic 1973 Roe v Wade decision, is far from being the only human rights issue that is endangered by the threat of yet another ultra-conservative ideologist on the Court.  Same-sex marriage, LGBT rights, freedom from religious mandates, immigration, and many other issues stand to be endangered.  I will deal with each of those in the coming week or two, but the initial fight will likely center around Roe and abortion.  As usual, I have a few thoughts on the matter …

The issue of abortion is … or at least ought to be … a personal one.  Roe v Wade was…

Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one .... since we ALL are ONE!! The future looks bright and promising!!!

  1. All of this frightens me. I do support a woman’s right to choose, BUT the choice should be before another life begins. She is not choosing her own body in abortion, but the life and body of that baby.. But, as you said, it’s not supposed to be a one issue problem here, and I also believe that what is done in each and every person’s home and bedroom is their own business, not to be determined by any court on this earth. My Catholic upbringing tells me one thing, but my personal growth tells me I have my own rights that I don’t want someone to step on, and I have no right to stop others from living the life that was ordained for them before their birth. I’m straight, yes, but have worked closely with PWA’s and their families in the past and I know for certain not a single one woke up one morning and said “I think I’ll be gay now”. My brother was afraid to tell me so many years ago when he needed support, not knowing at the time that I have known since he was a child and I was still a child myself. we didn’t have the words for sexual orientation back then, didn’t even know the definition of “sex” to be honest, but I knew he was special, just as I was special in other ways. He is in bad health now, but happily married to his life partner and even our mom eventually decided they weren’t going to hell over something they never made the choice to be. GENETIC, folks!

    • Wow!! Your words sound so familiar! I was born & raised Catholic. I’m not a practicing one anymore. Just recently I had a kinda painful conversation with someone very dear to me. Topics: abortion and marriage equality. She voted Drumpf bc Hill was pro choice. And my marriage is not equal to hers bc the church says so.
Still she loves me and my spouse, prays for me every day … and will not vote Drumpf in 2020. Issue for me … something really ‘broke’ in my relation with her. 😢
