As far as I’m concerned, a day with Aretha Franklin is the best antidote to all things having to do with hearing the news on the latest outrage delivered to us by our republican Reality TV Show President Donald Trump.

She has the distinction of having sung at the funeral for the Reverend Martin Luther King and at President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

The self-proclaimed diva passed away on the 16th of August 2018, at the age of 76 due to pancreatic cancer.

Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post penned a wonderfully moving tribute to the undisputed Queen of soul with a link to his favorite songs by Aretha Franklin. Below I’ve footnoted a link.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976.
