a klingon who thinks like a vulcan

This is what keeps hope alive … ‘Robert Mueller is like a Klingon trained to think like a Vulcan.’

gregfallis.com

Yesterday, in another venue, after Comrade Trump’s fixer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, I made this comment:

Robert Mueller is like a Klingon trained to think like a Vulcan.

Okay, that’s pretty nerdy. What I meant is that Mueller is approaching the Trump-Russia investigation with savage intensity harnessed by terrifyingly cold logic. It’s not just that Mueller is racking up so many guilty pleas and convictions, it’s also the totality of his control over the case. Consider these two things as proof of that control.

First, the plea itself was a surprise to everybody but Cohen and Mueller’s staff. Nobody knew this was going to happen until shortly before Cohen showed up in the courtroom. That’s astonishing. Keeping any secret in Washington, DC is hard. Keeping a secret in one of the most important criminal investigations in the history of the US, when every news agency and every…

Macy’s Christmas Tree Tradition!

Amazing!! Christmas … it’s spirit is in the air!! … greetings!!

The Chicago Files

**There is a new recording to accompany today’s post; it’s located on the right-hand side of the page (What Cher is Saying Today)

I had the opportunity to take some photos of Macy’s stunning Christmas tree!  Talk about mammoth! Wow!  The theme for this year’s display is “Chicago Landmarks”.  If you look closely at the bottom of the tree you will see  little replicas of the “L” Train, Merchandise mart, a Picasso Public Art piece, Aon Center, and Willis Tower (I must be missing one or two I think)!

The tree is located in the very iconic, “Walnut Room” which is a restaurant that harkens back decades when shopping and stopping for a fancy bite to eat was on the menu (yes, pun intended!)

In the past there was a place to take fabulous photos (actually one floor above the restaurant) but it’s closed which is such a shame.

There…

Mind-Numbing, Jaw-Dropping Moments …

These things are beyond the ‘WHAT?’ sentiment … this is bizarro world! This is Orwellian … and yes, would like to be as far away from this idiocy and lunacy as possible!!

Filosofa's Word

Two things in yesterday’s news were “Say WHAT?” moments.  Mind-numbing, jaw-dropping … the things that make you want to go live somewhere inside the Arctic Circle and forget you ever heard of the United States.

Ugly Trump“One of the problems that a lot of people like myself, we have very high levels of intelligence but we’re not necessarily such believers. As to whether or not it’s man-made and whether or not the effects that you’re talking about are there, I don’t see it. You look at our air and our water and it’s right now at a record clean.” – Donald Trump in interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, 26 November 2018

One of the problems I have with that statement is that I cannot decide whether it sends me into gales of laughter or fits of rage.  “High levels of intelligence”???  Even his most avid followers must…

Lightly Child, Lightly

Nature is amazing!! … it’s soothing and it calms the soul. A moment with nature recharges the batteries … take me there!!

But mostly I live here in the capricious present
Writing down one thing, then the next.
Autumn passes like empty freight cars—

Some doors open, some doors closed—
Light flickers and flashes through the cracks.
The trees are a thousand species of fires.
