‘Just Because’ …. “🇵🇷 I like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortéz 🇵🇷 …. “!!

~~September 22, 2019~~

I’m getting to know her, I like her mind and her thought process, I enjoy her convictions and her stamina.

I saw the documentary on Netflix, ‘Knock Down the House‘ … highly recommend it.

I say, give her a real chance.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  (born October 13, 1989), often referred to by her initials, AOC, is an American politician and activist who serves as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district. The district includes the eastern part of the Bronx and portions of north-central Queens in New York City. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
Ocasio-Cortez drew national recognition when she won the Democratic Party’s primary election for New York’s 14th congressional district on June 26, 2018. She defeated Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley, a 10-term incumbent, in what was widely seen as the biggest upset victory in the 2018 midterm election primaries.

She defeated Republican opponent Anthony Pappas in the November 6, 2018, general election. At age 29, Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress. Ocasio-Cortez has been noted for her subst antial social media presence relative to her fellow members of Congress.[6] In July 2019, news articles about her received at least four times as many interactions as those about any Democratic presidential candidate.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Underdog Story Is Now Officially Becoming a Comic Book
She’s Wonder Woman, but better because she fights rich assholes

The comic, which according to the website is printed on recycled unpaid medical bills, features witty references and hot takes on a cast of political characters, from entrenched players like Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, and Mitch McConnell, to Ocasio-Cortez’s fellow wave-makers Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts’s first black congresswoman, Kyrsten Sinema, the first openly bisexual Senator, and Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the first Muslim women elected to Congress.

The first two Native American congresswomen, Sharice Davids and Debra Haaland, are also part of the “Freshman Force.” It’s currently a one-off project with two different cover image options, one where AOC rocks a superwoman-esque ‘fit tackling an elephant to the ground, and another where she hits the same moves in a power suit.

IOTD …. “✨ Images of the Day, Very Special Edition …. ‘The Boquerón Pier’ …. after María ✨ …. “!!

~~September 22, 2019~~

Muelle de los Pescadores del Poblado en Boquerón,

Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico.

Impressive, inspiring, important!!

In the interest of promoting sustainable development of the fishing industry in Boquerón and providing a safe environment for fishermen, FirstBank has made a donation to the Asociación Pescadería Villa Palmeras Inc. fishing association to help complete the reconstruction of their pier, which was declared a total loss after Hurricanes Irma and María.

The fishing village which has operated the Boquerón Beach facilities in the town of Cabo Rojo since 1972, processes some 200 pounds of fresh fish and shellfish for sale at its café, to the public, and to local restaurants.

“As an association, we seek to support and sponsor fishermen. The Pescadería is self-sufficient and reinvests its revenue in the fishermen and in the maintenance of its facilities but, during catastrophic events such as hurricanes Irma and María, we require financial assistance to repair damages,” said Geovani Ojeda, president of Asociación Pescadería de Villa Palmeras Inc.

Our kingdom’s gonna be this little patch of green

‘Won’t you lie down here right now, In this September grass
Won’t you lie down with me now …
September grass … ~ James Taylor, from “September Grass” (Album
“October Road” 2002)

Live & Learn

Well, the sun’s not so hot in the sky today
And you know I can see summertime slipping on away
A few more geese are gone, a few more leaves turning red
But the grass is as soft as a feather in a featherbed
So I’ll be king and you’ll be queen
Our kingdom’s gonna be this little patch of green

Won’t you lie down here right now
In this September grass
Won’t you lie down with me now
September grass.

Oh the memory is like the sweetest pain
Yeah, I kissed the girl at a football game
I can still smell the sweat and the grass stains
We walked home together. I was never the same.

But that was a long time ago
And where is she now? I don’t know

Won’t you lie down here right now
In this September grass
Won’t you lie down with me now
