Cuchina, My Adventure Buddy …. “🌴 Goes to the Beach 🌴 …. “!!

~~January 13, 2020~~

Cuchina traveled with us to Puerto Rico. A couple of days before our return, she went to the beach and had an awesome time. She’s my new adventure buddy.

Sad to say, she wasn’t able to go back because we were preparing to come back to the mainland in view of the earthquakes that were affecting the Island.

Let me show you some of the pictures that she posed for!

Upon our next return, she will surely come back with us.

The beach never seems to lose its special touch. The soft sand and rolling waves instantly make us forget about all of our worries and instead focus on the amazing view in front of us.

Summer at the beach calls for wavy hair, tan lines, and the eternal scent of sunscreen. With longer days full of sun and countless summer books to read, it’s no surprise summer is everyone’s favorite time of the year.

“At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun.”

~Sandy Gingras~

“Beach Rules: Soak up the sun. Ride the waves. Breathe the salty air. Feel the breeze. Build sandcastles. Rest, relax, reflect. Collect seashells. Bare-feet required.”

Description: Calling all superhero/shero lovers/fanatics! Many of us consume superhero/shero stories daily, immersing ourselves in their fantastic worlds. We see ourselves in their backstories, super strengths, and weaknesses. However, rarely do these characters, that we so love, have their narratives, or their creators, reflected in our actual diverse world. Our current exhibition The Color of Power: Heroes, Sheroes, & Their Creators explores these issues.

Power back on, but thousands still homeless, in quake-hit Puerto Rico

I was there!! I felt them all … mostly the strong ones! … ‘Puerto Rico’s public power utility said on Monday it has restored electricity to almost all the island, nearly a week after the strongest earthquake in more than a century knocked out all power and caused at least $110 million in damage.’

Repeating Islands

UntitledLuis Valentín Ortiz (Reuters) reports on the latest conditions in quake-wracked Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico’s public power utility said on Monday it has restored electricity to almost all the island, nearly a week after the strongest earthquake in more than a century knocked out all power and caused at least $110 million in damage.

Nearly 5,000 people left homeless by a series of quakes have taken refuge in government shelters, officials said on Monday, in addition to hundreds if not thousands more people who are sleeping outside their homes.

Public power utility PREPA, also known by its Spanish acronym AEE, announced power was restored to 99 percent of homes and businesses while also urging people to conserve energy because the largest generating plant on the Caribbean island remains offline.

PREPA shut down the power grid as a safety precaution amid a series of earthquakes including one of 6.4 magnitude last…

Drumpf’s administration refuses to release all available aid to Puerto Rico despite earthquakes, citing ‘corruption’ concerns

The Drumpf administration is refusing to release all available disaster aid to Puerto Rico despite this week’s earthquakes, citing concerns about “corruption” and “financial mismanagement” on the island, the Daily News has learned.

Drumpf’s Department of Housing and Urban Development was supposed to start disbursing $9.7 billion in aid to Puerto Rico in September as part of a congressional allocation to beef up natural disaster readiness following the devastating hurricanes that battered the island in 2017 and killed nearly 3,000 people.

Congressional Democrats were outraged and said the Drumpf administration is breaking the law by withholding the congressionally approved money.

“The ongoing withholding of funds appropriated by Congress to Puerto Rico is illegal” … House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) told reporters at a Thursday (January 2) press conference!

Puerto Rico …. “🇵🇷 My Soul, My country, My Home 🇵🇷 …. “!

~~January 13, 2020~~

Many of you know that I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. It wasn’t until 1999 that I moved permanently to the ‘mainland’.

During this summer, we had the opportunity to buy the condo of our dreams in an area of the Island which we love dearly. I worked there for 20 years before moving, I have friends, family and connections that are invaluable to me.

Our most recent trip to Puerto Rico was 12/31/19.

The new year, 2020, arrived while we were up in the air!

We were still celebrating Christmas, Three Kings Day was coming up and that day we were celebrating 5th anniversary of married bliss.

On January 6, we went out our merry way, we had a celebratory lunch/dinner and came back home. I was tipsy so I took a short nap. We relaxed, watched TV and went to sleep.

We were suddenly awakened by a terribly shaking bed in an un-natural way. It’s a visceral feeling when you realize the earth is shaking beneath your feet!

We ran out to the grounds of the condo complex. Several other people staying there were outside too. I realized that there were cars leaving the parking area. Before long I received a text message from a friend that a tsunami warning had been issued.

We grabbed our important belongings, closed the apartment and headed out.

It was surprising to see plenty of vehicles parked on the roads’ shoulders … we later realized that they were trying to find high ground to avoid the wave that was headed our way.

Thankfully the alert was cancelled but not before our systems were totally infused with adrenaline!

Keep in mind this is where the condo is located.

It’s completely beachfront.

The faults that are active at this time are located in the southwest area around 50 miles to the east of our location!

“X” marks our spot.

We went to a friend’s house in Mayagüez and stayed there most of the morning. While there, at least 3 more strong tremors were felt. By 1PM, we wanted to come back to the condo.

We did. Even though not major, we continued to feel tremors.

My earthquake apps on the phone were going bonkers!

I’d never experienced anything like this before!

The pictures started coming out of social media.

My heart aches for my country and my fellow country people!

Those less fortunate than us. Those who lost so much. Those who are still sleeping outside. Those who lost their lives!!

Saturday morning … that was the day that we were flying out of Puerto Rico!

Old “El Faro” de Guánica, Puerto Rico … destroyed!

~~Published January 11, 2020~~

A string of powerful earthquakes and aftershocks originating in the south of the island continue to stun and rattle residents in early January. Puerto Rico has not stopped shaking since December 28, 2019. A 6.4-magnitude earthquake on Jan. 7, 2020 forced thousands of families to sleep outside, jeopardized the territory’s weak power infrastructure and frayed the nerves of residents who have endured more than two years of catastrophe after catastrophe. Unceasing seismic activity on a fault just off the southern coast has pushed damage estimates to $110 million.

Another powerful earthquake rocked Puerto Rico on Saturday morning. The 5.9 magnitude quake caused heavy damage and left thousands without power. It’s the latest in a string of quakes to strike the island since Tuesday.

David Begnaud reports.

What do trump, Ukraine, and Puerto Rico have in common?

Drumpf, Ukraine and Puerto Rico … WITHHOLDING OF MONIES ALLOCATED BY CONGRESS … on a whim, just because ‘I feel like it, I’m the boss kinda thing’ … I will NEVER forget, I will NEVER forgive!!

Shechaim's News of the Day

(Puerto Ricans are citizens of the United States and even though they only have a few of our privileges,
there is no room in our constitution, our laws, our Christian belief, or for a
jealous, pampered, spoiled little brat, Racistas – Pendejos,
in our white house to continually stomp of our neighbors).
What is the difference between holding back $391.5 million approved for Ukraine
that Democrats and Republicans had agreed to provide!
(Democrats and Republicans had agreed to provide the territory with
$12 billion over four years as it sought a more long-term funding option).
Total of $28 billion money approved for Puerto Rico my trump?
As every voting citizen of the United States and the world knows by now, trump has been spitting on the
Constitution of the United States, this time just to get ‘fake dirt’ on one of his many ‘political opponents’!
As with…
