♫ Send In The Clowns ♫

Sad to see and sad to agree completely … ‘SEND IN THE CLOWNS‘ … the perfect description!!

Filosofa's Word

Although I have not watched much of the impeachment trial, I have read various analyses and watched a few clips.  Yesterday afternoon, I wrote my thoughts on what I have alternately referred to as a dog-and-pony show, and a three-ring-circus.  With that in mind, I thought this song, or at least the title of it, perfectly appropriate for tonight.

This is a song written by Stephen Sondheim for the 1973 musical A Little Night Music, an adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night. It is a ballad from Act Two, in which the character Desirée reflects on the ironies and disappointments of her life.

The “clowns” in the title do not refer to circus clowns. Instead, they symbolize fools, as Sondheim explains …

“I get a lot of letters over the years asking what the title means and what the song’s about; I never thought…

MI TIERRA, MI HOGAR

For those paying attention, almost 3 years after Hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico, something is happening again.

A swarm of earthquakes began hitting the south west area of the Island.

These began on December 28, 2019 and to this day are still felt.

Damage has been significant in that area: structural, physical and emotional.

Add to that a rare meteorite, space ‘trash’ seen in the sky, full moon and a lunar eclipse.

LIFE COMES FULL CIRCLE

In reality, this picture came up as a ‘memory’ in Facebook a while ago.

As a reminder we met in 1969, in college. We stayed in touch as life took us along the paths we were supposed to go. We reconnected in 1996.

Love the numerology of the dates … 1969 and 1996!

AMAZING RE-CONNECTION!!

LIVING LIFE WITH INTEGRITY

Things come to you when you need them. I was looking and I found this. I chose it because I would like to address this to the Senators who are in the midst of ‘history-in-the-making’.

Yet, the majority seem to not care in spite of knowing what the truth may be.

They aren’t even serious about listening; they are not keeping the oath they took about ‘impartial justice’.

LIVE A LIFE OF INTEGRITY!

Lightly Child, Lightly

How true!! … ‘There’s a lightness in things. Only we people move forever burdened, pressing ourselves onto everything, obsessed by weight. How strange and devouring our ways must seem to those for whom life is enough.’

Live & Learn

There’s a lightness in things.

Only we people move forever burdened,

pressing ourselves onto everything, obsessed by weight.

How strange and devouring our ways must seem

to those for whom life is enough.

— Rainer Maria Rilke, “Part Two XIV,” from Sonnets to Orpheus
