bunnyKate Linthicum (Los Angeles Times) focuses on how Bad Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Puerto Rico) “broke every rule of Latin pop—and became its biggest and brightest star,” infusing his reggaeton lyrics with inclusive politics, statements on sexual fluidity, and declarations against gendered oppression, and sporting his particular sense of fashion.

Bad Bunny had just finished performing with Shakira at the Super Bowl halftime show and was being rushed back to his dressing room when he stopped. “Listen, we’re going to stay here,” he told his handlers. “The show’s not over yet.”

For the next few minutes, as the crowd of 65,000 screamed for Jennifer Lopez and fireworks streaked the Miami sky, the 25-year-old Puerto Rican rapper lingered on the field. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also joined in the celebrations, saying the production of Aquaman was a big moment for the state’s film industry.

“It’s no secret Queenslanders have a great love of the water and while we’ve produced plenty of Olympic swimmers and world champion surfers, we’ve never had a deep-sea superhero to call our own until now,” says Palaszczuk.

They were the product of your upbringing or conditioning or gender or social class. And I think there’s a certain point where suddenly the grip of all of that on you loosens. It’s like a stage set beginning to sort of crumble, and you start to see it wobbling, and I think you can get some really startling and frightening perspectives on identity once you start looking at it from there.
