I must confess I laughed at him plenty of times … sarcastic humor is what helps me make it through the day. Yet, I already know this … “This shit just isn’t funny anymore. It turns out, it never was funny. We just didn’t know.” … I think I’ve known for a while!
Maybe it all comes down to this: Donald Trump is afraid of being laughed at. Maybe the underlying motive for much/most/all of his most astonishing, reprehensible behavior is just that he’s terrified of being embarrassed, of being publicly humiliated. Of being laughed at.
Take yesterday’s appalling photo-op. Throughout much of the day a big chunk of the online world devoted itself to mocking and laughing at Trump for turning off the lights at the White House and hiding in a basement bunker because angry protesters were at his doorstep. For example:

The idea is to fill Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with black squares, freeing up the time usually dedicated to social media for people to educate themselves on the Black Lives Matter movement.
The simple posts are intended as a way of expressing solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests that have swept the US after the death of George Floyd. To join in, users simply post a black square onto their feed – and then commit not to post over the rest of the day.
As a fact … “American police forces killed three people per day in 2019, for a total of nearly 1,100 killings.” … so what say you? Riots or resistance?
American society has been once again awaken from the Dream by protests……and as normal it is because a black person has been killed by the police.
I am sure there are a wealth of opinions on why and most of them are out of the mouths of white people who have no idea on what it is truly all about.

The general public’s opinions about protests and the social movements behind them are formed in large part by what they read or see in the media. This gives journalists a lot of power when it comes to driving the narrative of a demonstration.
