During these uncertain times, when a feeling of dread frequently accompanies us, we need to think that we can make it over the ‘mountain/hump’.

Yep, I live in Flori-duh!! …The numbers are going up … “Three months after the Covid-19 pandemic forced bars and restaurants to close in Florida, some businesses have shut within one week of reopening as coronavirus cases spike in the state. At least six bars in northern and central Florida have now announced their closures amid new COVID-19 cases, which peaked on Sunday.”

florida_methode_times_prod_web_bin_d25c3f40-b0e1-11ea-86d3-bc5eef90654fGino Spocchia (Independent) reports on businesses in Florida that have needed to shut down again as the state’s second coronavirus wave hits.

Three months after the Covid-19 pandemic forced bars and restaurants to close in Florida, some businesses have shut within one week of reopening as coronavirus cases spike in the state. At least six bars in northern and central Florida have now announced their closures amid new Covid-19 cases, which peaked on Sunday.

The state’s health department has since confirmed two consecutive days with more than 2,000 new cases, breaking records set when the pandemic began in March.

That announcement came almost one week on from Florida’s second reopening phase permitting bars, cinemas and tattoo shops to welcome customers with some restrictions, as mandated under governor Ron DeSantis’ reopening plan.

Still, increased Covid-19 transmission in Florida has forced some businesses to shut down. A…

~Rolfe, Brooks, Brosnan~

The former Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks was charged with felony murder, making him the second white officer to face murder charges after violent encounters with black men during the weeks of nationwide protests touched off by the police killing of George Floyd.

Garrett Rolfe, who has already been fired, faces 11 charges related to Rayshard Brooks’ death.

Devin Brosnan also charged with several counts of aggravated assault.

Mr. Brooks suffered two gunshots to the back that caused organ injuries and blood loss. One police bullet also hit a witness’ vehicle, nearly killing the driver, investigators say.

Damming, inhumane information related to actions by these ‘cops‘ disclosed at the press conference on June 17, 2020.

After shooting deploying the taser on Mr. Brooks, Rolfe shot him twice on the back, expressive utterance: “I got him!” and then kicked Mr. Brooks while he was on the ground struggling for this life.

Here’s Devin Brosnan standing on Mr. Brooks’ shoulder.

Mr. Rolfe kicked the victim, prosecutors said, while his partner stood on the fatally wounded man’s shoulder.

*They withheld medical care for the next 2 minutes and 12 seconds.*

Just A Few “Bad Apples” …

My sentiments exactly!! … “There seems to have been 85,000 investigations of police wrongdoing … in the past decade! Sorry but those numbers stated in the article are a bit more than a “few bad apples” …

In Saner Thought

I know you have heard the term “bad apples” referring to those cops that are caught beating and abusing the public and why should all cops be punished for the acts of a few “bad apples”?

There seems to have been 85,000 investigations of police wrong doing…in the past decade…..

At least 85,000 law enforcement officers across the USA have been investigated or disciplined for misconduct over the past decade, an investigation by USA TODAY Network found.

Officers have beaten members of the public, planted evidence and used their badges to harass women. They have lied, stolen, dealt drugs, driven drunk and abused their spouses.

Despite their role as public servants, the men and women who swear an oath to keep communities safe can generally avoid public scrutiny for their misdeeds.

The records of their misconduct are filed away, rarely seen by anyone outside their departments. Police unions and their…

Live & Learn

Sleep (way) short. Weight way up.  Coincidence?

4:43 a.m. Out the door. Day 43. Same 5-mile loop.

Cloud cover 91%.  Humidity 96%.  Heavens spitting rain.

I walk.

No sunrise.
No sign of swans sleeping.
No sign of mallards, and their brood.
No Cormorant fishing.
No loon call, breaking the silence.

Misty, foggy daybreak.

I round the corner, and march down a side street. 10 minutes from home.  Emails. Conference calls. Zoom. Heaviness begins to settle in.

And then, there it is.

I see it ahead.

Colors. Chalk on pavement.

Heaviness lifts.
