COVID PATIENTS IN ICU

I’m a senior citizen and retired Internal Medicine physician. Never during my practicing years did I experience what I’m seeing now since the COVID-19 pandemic began. I’ve seen pictures, videos of nurses and doctors describing what they are going through. I’ve seen their faces with the ‘marks’ of the facial PPE after hours and hours of continually working with extremely sick patients.

I truly think that ‘common folk‘, who haven’t experienced this closely – as personally or in the loss of a dear one, relative, friend, neighbor – won’t understand the severity and the seriousness of what is happening in the frontlines.

I somewhere saw a Spanish phrase that I’m going to translate:

“Until ‘the deaths’ become ‘our deaths’, we’ll never understand the seriousness of what we are collectively going through.

A dear blogger, cyber-friend wrote the thoughts expressed below.

I’m sharing them here because I believe she’s expressed exactly what needs to be taken into consideration.

This is serious!!

Some minorities are using the wearing of masks – or the refusal to wear a ask – as a marker delimiting their personal freedoms and right to take what risks they choose, misconstruing the purpose and science behind the masks

========================================

“Your freedoms are yours until they infringe upon mine. Your right not to wear a mask ends exactly where my right for the safety of my personal space and my respiratory system begin.”

About Dr. Rex

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. Have lived in Florida since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one .... since we ALL are ONE!! The future looks bright and promising!!!

  1. This brought tears to my eyes. I am so saddened that so many don’t wear masks. When I need to go out for essentials and wear my mask, they stare at me like I am the crazy one. I don’t care. I hold my head high and stay away as much as I can. We need to do this together to stop the spread. Thank you for the reblog!
