Utter chaos , totally against the U.S. Constitution … aided and abetted by his lap dogs!! … “Trump wants to shift public attention from the virus, which he can’t “dominate”, to the streets of America, which he and his secret police can.”
A number of serious issues are deeply concerning in the U.S. today, and obviously the coronavirus pandemic is at the top of the list. Well, it’s obvious to some of us, at any rate. Trump’s horrific bungling of the pandemic has caused the U.S. to have the absolute worst record on the globe, with now 27% of the world’s cases, while we only account for over 4% of the world’s population. With less than 100 days until the November election, Trump apparently decided it would be easier to draw public attention away from the virus, than to try to allow the experts to take over and fix the problem. His distraction? Attack the cities and the people who live in them. Today, I would like to share the esteemed Robert Reich’s Sunday column from The Guardian on this topic …
Trump can’t shift public attention from coronavirus to the streets…
More than likely, he wasn’t even invited … you know, like the Yankees first pitch? … “it’s hard to pay your respects when you don’t have any. Trump doesn’t respect anything. He doesn’t respect the people who work for him. He doesn’t respect the office of the presidency. He doesn’t respect the racist idiots who support him. While his cult respects him, it’s OK if he doesn’t return it because they don’t respect themselves. Anyone with any self-respect, pride, dignity, ethics, morals, principles, or standards, would NEVER support the likes of a racist troglodyte moronic conman.”
When asked if he would visit the United States Capitol to pay his respects to John Lewis, Donald Trump said no. But, an invite to visit Mr. Lewis’ body lying in state in the Capitol rotunda is probably like that invite from the Yankees. It didn’t happen.
Instead of visiting the Capitol and paying his respects to the late congressman and civil rights leader, who had his skull cracked while protesting on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on Bloody Sunday, 1965, Donald Trump chose to stage a photo-op in North Carolina where he continued his lies about the coronavirus pandemic.
The thing is, kids, it’s hard to pay your respects when you don’t have any. Donald Trump doesn’t respect anything. He doesn’t respect the people who work for him. He doesn’t respect the office of the presidency. He doesn’t respect the racist idiots who support him. While his cult respects him…
I’m done with The Cove Park portion of my 5 mile walk, and it’s the last 7/10s of a mile in the home stretch. On asphalt. Through the side streets. Heading home.
I’m tired. I’m dragging. And my head has shifted to Work.
I slip the cap on the lens while I’m walking (because one cannot waste precious minutes). I tuck the camera into the sling, zip up the bag, and swing it over my shoulder. I accelerate my pace. And practice my breathing as instructed by James Nestor. (Because he’s so deep into my consciousness, I can’t take 10 breaths without thinking about his instruction.)
I round the corner onto Anthony Lane and hear a rustle.
And there they are. The two of them. Staring at me.
I freeze.
They freeze.
Please. Please don’t move. I slide my sling from back to…
All of us had a life before COVID-19. We had plans, we had dreams, we had a future. We had our families and friends. We celebrated key moments with them and created memories!!
