I’m not a sports fan. Don’t know the name of many of these teams, coaches, referees or players.

Doc Rivers is one name I will never forget.

I watched him speak after the NBA players decided not to play that game in Orlando.

What more can anyone say?

Let him speak … please, listen!


The shooting of Jacob Blake by Wisconsin police over the weekend has driven the sports world to respond, both in words like those of Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, and in actions like those of the Detroit Lions, who didn’t hold protest and instead addressed the media.

There was also what Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said to the media after his team’s Game 5 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He nearly came to tears as he spoke about what it feels like to be Black in America, and he reminded everyone that his father was a police officer.

Well, it seems I’m doing another redux tonight … it wasn’t planned, but as I trolled the archives for a new song to play, this one just kept popping up all over the place!  And then … there were gunshots here in da hood at 2:00 a.m., and there went any hope for spending more time finding a song to play!  Nonetheless, this one fits the bill, for it is upbeat and much loved by my readers as evidenced by the comments when I last played it back in 2018. 

As for the gunshots … the police arrived post haste, but I don’t have any updates. I in all my great wisdom stepped outside my front door and yelled at the top of my lungs, “What the f*ck do you idiots think you’re doing???”  Obviously, age is not necessarily accompanied by wisdom.
