SNL Weekend Update ~ 10/11

Simply LOVED IT!! … “Late McKinnon breaking in a new character named Dr. Wayne Wenowdis.”

By Hook Or By Book

Phenomenal comedian Kate McKinnon was with Colin Jost on Saturday Night Live this past weekend breaking in a new character named Dr. Wayne Wenowdis. Toward the end of the exchange she had a minor nervous breakdown and broke character. Not only did it make an already funny skit even more humorous, her feelings are something I think we can all relate to.

Patrick Willie …. “💫 ‘Native American Heritage – Navajo Hoop Dancer’ 💫 …. !!

~~October 12, 2020~~

I’m celebrating ‘Indigenous Peoples’ Day‘. I’m not celebrating Columbus Day anymore. I have educated myself more than I was in school. I’m old enough to know the difference!

Patrick Willie is an amazing representative of the Navajo Nation’s culture.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures.

It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities. It began as a counter-celebration held on the same day as the U.S. federal holiday of Columbus Day, which honors Italian explorer Christopher Columbus.

Many reject celebrating him, saying that he represents “the violent history of the colonization in the Western Hemisphere“, and that Columbus Day is a sanitation or covering-up of Christopher Columbus’ actions such as enslaving Native Americans.

Patrick Willie is paying it forward culturally. It didn’t come easy and there was a big learning curve, but the work is paying off.

That is why Willie, a world champion hoop dancer, is today’s everyday hero.

Willie is a full-blooded Navajo, but said he didn’t have the opportunity to grow up on the reservation in New Mexico like his parents. He was born and raised in Orem.

His parents know Navajo fluently and met at Brigham Young University. Both were students in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Indian Placement Program.

I made this as a fun project for Native American Heritage Month.

I compiled a lot of unique creative hoop dance moves people don’t typically see, all inspired by hoop dancers I look up to. I hope that this video can help inspire other hoop dancers creatively.

The hoop dance is a dance that shares a story and the story I’m conveying here is to use your imagination. I keep an ever-growing list of ideas in my phone. It’s amazing, a new hoop move usually hits me every few days.

I then get that burst of excitement and have to try the move that crossed my mind. I’m sure you all can relate, that feeling of excitement of experiencing something that brings you pure bliss, it could be in the form of your favorite song/movie/book/food/art or even life itself. Be creative and most importantly have fun doing so.

Think outside the box, or in this case, think outside the “hoop”.

Each of the places I recorded making this video all have a story of their own. I was interrupted by police when recording one time but was left alone when they recognized me from another time I danced downtown, another time a school was having recess and a teacher came to ask me to do an impromptu performance so I did, another time I danced for the people at the park, I hiked 5 hours up provo canyon to dance with a nice view, I packed everything in my backpack and biked 2 hours to the lake and danced for the people fishing.

When I danced at the capitol (day after the election) there were protesters (seen in the background) with whom I had a wonderful conversation about unity. There’s so much more that went on behind the scenes that added meaning to my dance and the many messages it has to share.

I’m from Utah.

On Reforming the Court

I SIMPLY HAVE NO WORDS, NOT ABLE TO SPEAK … “A Supreme Court representing an entrenched, unpopular minority faction that refuses to allow the popular majorities from the other party to effectively govern would be neither democratically legitimate nor politically stable.
Reform the Court. Abandon the Electoral College.” …

Well the Covid virus continues to rage and Congress is unable to agree on a relief package for the millions of unemployed, those soon to be evicted from their homes, the airline industry etc. but the Senate is full speed ahead to confirm another Theo-fascist to the Supreme Court,  Since Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life, her confirmation will cement minority rule in this nation for decades to come.

Everything she supports is opposed by the majority of the citizens of this nation.  Makes no difference.  The Court has been thoroughly politicized.  Once I believed, and rightly so, that the Court’s first responsibility was to protect the individual and a minority from the tyranny of the majority.  In the space of a decade the Court has changed to where it now imposes the tyranny of a minority.

The table has been turned since 2010  as Citizens United v. Federal…

Pumpkin Rage

NO TRUER WORDS!! … “One way to detect a sin Donald Trump is guilty of is when he makes the accusation about someone else.” … HE’S THE MASTER OF PROJECTION – we should know that by now!!

When Donald Trump called for Joe Biden to take a drug test before their first debate, he was probably high as a kite when he said it.

Since Donald Trump contracted the Trump Virus, he’s been a bit off the rails with many believing he’s doped up on steroids. The thing with Trump being on drugs is, how can you tell?

It’s not as easy as being able to detect when he’s lying because if he’s talking, then he’s lying. If we’re to believe Donald Trump is ‘roided up by his really weird and insane statements, then he’s probably been doped up for the past two decades.

What was he on when he talked about windmill cancer or raking forests? How much Adderall does one have to be on to talk about nuking hurricanes? Did he raid Donald Trump Jr’s stash when he dry-humped an American flag?

One way to…
