‘The Miracle of Morning’ …. “💞 ‘More Amanda Gorman’ 💞 …. “!!

~~January 22, 2021~~

THE MIRACLE OF MORNING

I first heard about Amanda Gorman at the Biden/Harris Inauguration this week. I went looking and found this. The young lady has been around for a while.

What a charisma, what a soul, what a talent!

Enjoy another one of her poems!

================================

Amanda Gorman has written poems for historic occasions. Now she has made history herself.

She delivered her original composition, “The Hill We Climb,” at the Capitol in front of President-elect Joe Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and the entire nation.

She said she researched the speeches of Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as she began writing. But it was the riots at the Capitol that made a closing impact.

President Biden’s inauguration was far from the first time 22-year-old Amanda Gorman gave a moving performance. Gorman, who became the youngest known inaugural poet when she read “The Hill We Climb” on Wednesday, has previously performed five original poems commissioned by “CBS This Morning” .

The first was a Thanksgiving poem called “The Republic Gives Thanks“, which she performed at Harvard University in 2018 when she was a student there.

She collaborated with the Boston Pops for the Independence Day work “Believer’s Hymn for the Republic” and with musician Jon Batiste for a special Empire State Building performance of “The Republic Rising“.

In 2020, she paid tribute to Americans’ resilience during the coronavirus pandemic with her composition “The Miracle of Morning“, and she spoke out on social justice and racial equality with her poem “Fury and Faith“.

Friday Fun Fact, #2 …. “🕊 ‘Lady Gaga’s Peace Dove’ 🕊 …. “!!

Lady Gaga arrived to the inauguration in a custom white double-breasted Alaïa coat with matching mask before changing into a custom haute couture gown by Schiaparelli for her performance. The red ball skirt and navy jacket was paired with a gilded brooch in the shape of a dove carrying an olive branch, which Gaga later posted with a caption urging everyone to make peace with each other.

Lady Gaga went from Star Wars to Hunger Games real quick!!

Singing In The Covid Rain

This is one of the many things to work on!! Yet … convincing these people? Good luck!! … “But hey, it’s good to have facts back. It’s good not to be bullshitted over every matter large and small. This is the beginning of repairing the damage from the Trump administration which starts with being honest. Now, good luck convincing the 70 million who believe in deep state Satanic-worshipping pedophiliac lizard people to put on a mask.”

Science and facts took a back seat during the Trump era. Who am I kidding? Back seat? Facts weren’t even along for the ride. Sean Spicer’s very first press conference was about the crowd size for Trump’s inauguration and how it was the “biggest attended and viewed in history.” And yeah, it was all fun and chuckles for a while, but when lives were on the line, it stopped being funny and became infuriating.

Donald Trump lied about the coronavirus…repeatedly. He didn’t just lie or make inaccurate comments. From the recordings between Trump and Bob Woodward, Donald knew he was lying.

It was a year ago that the first case of the coronavirus was detected in this country. When we had 15 cases, Donald Trump said it would soon be down to zero. A year later, we have 24,633,015 cases of the virus and 410,378 deaths.

How our perceptions are our only internal map of the world, how there are places that claim you and places that warn you away. How you can fall in love with the light.” — Ellen Meloy, The Anthropology of Turquoise: Reflections on Desert, Sea, Stone, and Sky (Pantheon; July 16, 2002) (via exhaled-spirals)

Inauguration 2021

One of the many amazing moments of Inauguration Day 2021 .. Yo-Yo Ma!

By Hook Or By Book

I’m going to attempt not to ramble too much with this post, but I overindulged with champagne last night, so forgive me if I do. I’m also still basking in the afterglow of yesterday’s inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris. Don’t worry. I haven’t glued my rose colored glasses permanently to the bridge of my nose. Obviously, the U.S. still has a long and difficult path to traverse. We’re still battling a pandemic, rampant poverty, unemployment, inequality, the rise of white supremacy and other hate groups, government corruption, and the vast number of people who have no health insurance, to name just a few issues. But, for the first time in four years I feel like maybe, just maybe, the country I love so much, has a chance. From today through Sunday, I’m going to share some of my favorite moments from last night’s Inaugural Concert: “Celebrating America”…
