Water, like religion and ideology, has the power to move millions of people. Since the very birth of human civilization, people have moved to settle close to it. People move when there is too little of it. People move when there is too much of it. People journey down it. People write, sing and dance about it. People fight over it. And all people, everywhere and every day, need it.

GOLDEN CALF

… And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming

And the sign said, “The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence”

TWO BRITS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

There’s some part of Brit in me. I’ve always liked James Corden and, more than anything, Prince Harry. This is a treat. I missed James’ show last night and went looking for this segment.

It’s mood lifting ‘adventure’. Brought a smile to my face!!

In a wide-ranging chat with friend James Corden, Harry opened up about his relationship with Meghan, their son Archie, the Queen – and even rapped the theme tune to The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air outside the mansion where it was filmed.

Prince Harry today insisted that he will “never walk away” from the royal family and he did “what any husband or father would do” by emigrating to America.

In an extraordinary interview, the Duke of Sussex said he had “stepped back not stepped away” because his mental health was being “destroyed” and maintained that his “life is public service”.

“It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw. So I did what any father or husband would do and thought ‘how do I get my family out of here’.

Describing his and Meghan’s decision to leave the UK, he said:

“It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down.

Now that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are settled into Southern California, James Corden thought it was time to show his friend Prince Harry the sights.

From tea on an open top bus to visiting the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” mansion, Prince Harry gets the tour he never dreamed of. Special thanks to Spartan for providing an incredible Spartan Race Obstacle Course to run.

JUST BEING FACETIOUS

I’d like to clarify … I’m not being critical or disrespectful.

I’m just trying to bring some levity and light humor to quite the serious situation.

Of course, I’ll be wearing as many masks as the CDC says we need to wear to protect oursleves.

Filosofa Ponders …

I think I have an answer for youI live in FloriDUH and Rick Scott is supposed to ‘represent’ me!! … he’s a crook, a joke and a total failure. Just perfect for today’s Repuglican party! … SMGH!!

Filosofa's Word

Filosofa means ‘philosopher’ in Spanish.  When I first started this blog, my friend Herb suggested the name ‘Filosofa’s Word’ because he sees me as a philosopher of sorts.  I rarely philosophize these days, but tonight I am in a reflective mood, pondering and feeling the need to opine a bit.  Please bear with me.

Have you ever stopped and pondered the differences … the core differences, not the everyday cosmetic differences … between the two major political parties in the U.S.?  Most people are lifelong members of one party or another, while a small percentage are recent converts and another small percentage identify as Independents.

If you ask most people, they will give you a few key talking points, such as Republicans are for smaller government, big business, and a balanced budget, Democrats are for inclusiveness, more government regulations, etc., etc.  If you ask a die-hard republican what Democrats stand…

IN SUMMRY … Can’t celebrate yet! This is what the Republicans are!! A quick look at the actions/responses on ‘The Equality Act’! … It passed the House … “The Equality Act needs 60 votes to pass in the Senate. In case you lost count, that means the bill needs ten Republicans. But with the likes of Mitt Romney opposing the meausre, it’s in trouble. Tolerance is in trouble.”

One word I’ve always hated in politics is “tolerance.” It seems like a very low bar to get over. Think about it. If you come to a party at my house and I say that I will tolerate your presence, that sounds kinda rude and that there’s something seriously wrong with you. It sounds like I’m tolerating you despite a lot of stuff…and gee whiz, what a great guy I am to tolerate you despite how horrible you are. It’s not so much tolerance we need to strive for as it is acceptance.

But in today’s climate, I’ll accept some tolerance.

The United States House of Representatives passed sweeping legislation yesterday to ban discrimination against people based on sexual orientation and gender identity, delivering a major victory to the LGBTQ community. And in doing so, it exposed the Republican Party for the troglodytes that they are. No, not just in…
