Cynthia Erivo Performs …. 🎼 ‘Stand Up – Official Video’ 🎼 …. “!!

~~April 3, 2021~~

I’ve watched ‘Harriet‘ a few times. Every time I watch, there’s a new message coming through. I’ve also been reading up on American slavery history and educating myself about things I was never taught in school.

I’ve been watching the Chauvin trial this past week. I see the meaning in the callous action of taking the life of a handcuffed, restrained, non-threatening, strong Black man in a street in Minneapolis by a white, entitled, uncaring white man.

Four hundred years of history – flashing right there, before our eyes. Playing at the trial over and over again.

Consider all the other names that came before George Floyd’s. Nothing much has change, has it?

(Please, catch the lyris.)

Stand Up“, officially titled “Stand Up (from Harriet)“, is a song sung by English singer Cynthia Erivo and co-written by Erivo with Joshuah Brian Campbell. It was released on 25 October 2019, as the lead single from the soundtrack to the biographical film Harriet, which also stars Erivo.

In 2017, English singer and actress Cynthia Erivo was cast to portray abolitionist and activist Harriet Tubman in the biographical film eponymously titled Harriet. Following the completion of filming, Erivo collaborated with composer Joshuah Brian Campbell to write the song for the end credits of the film.
