KABUL GRAFFITI STREET ARTIST
I first learned about this amazing street artist as the withdrawal by American forces began in Kabul, Afghanistan. Shamsia, it seems to me, became a local icon, I guess. Her art seems to have graced many of the streets where she lives.
Yesterday, she posted the picture included above and this message in ther Twitter account.

Since the news about the withdrawal, I’ve been aware of some of the things the Taliban does … among these, they destroyed all the musical instruments in a local school. Musicians and artists are worried about what will happen to them.
I’m concerned about Shamsia, now more than ever, as her ‘murals’ seem to be erased. I’m saving the paintings she’s posted on Facebook as a humble way to safeguard them.
Hassani was born in 1988 and spent her childhood in Iran; her parents had temporarily immigrated there, from Kandahar, Afghanistan during the war.
#Silence … #Sadness … #Regression … in Kabul!!
