NITE, NITE
It’s that time of day! Lights out, covered by the bed sheeets, in the warmth of your fur babies – if you have any!!
Sweet dreams, y’all!!

Hello Dr Rex, I read one of your articles from 2013, “Dumbing Down of America – It Is What It Is” while searching the topic. I liked your comments about how our country has become dumbed down in many ways and the solutions you offered for people in resolving problems with it. I have felt that way about our country for quite some time. I thought your article was a great piece on it. However, I wanted to see if you still felt like “The future looks bright and promising!!!” as strongly as you stated in 2013. That is, is your optimism still the same, and if so do you see it as trying to make the best of things or do you feel that its still realistic these days with some of the heavy hurdles and problems threatening our country? I know we have faced problems in the past but today they just seem to be much worst! One other question I have for you if you would be so kind to consider is if you still see yourself as a liberal and is it the old kind or the new progressive one? I am especially curious because you seem like such a level headed good person that I would be surprised to hear you say you are a liberal progressive. These are trying times in our country and while I feel all the talk of mindfulness and “stopping to smell the roses” can be good, maybe it may be better for people to be more involved in helping out to fix our country. That may be a good thing and there are many ways possible to do so. Being dumbed down is one thing but being so in a country that is falling apart is even worse. I’m glad I found your blog and I look forward to your reply!

Hi!! Hello, Steve! I thank you for stopping by and leaving your very wise comments. First of all, I have to say that I went on search mode to find the post you alluded to, dated November 2013. I found it and added some graphics because some spaces were ’empty.
I must confess that if I compare 2013 to 2021 – I find there is a huge change in my state of mind, in the frame of my thoughts. So many things have changed since then!
I started this blog after my retirement, as a way of staying busy. When I began I blogging, things generally were quite rosy, I must say maybe because they might have been and maybe because I lived in my bubble which was really full of ignorance – of certain topics. It has been a process to get self-educated and updated with the times. “The future looks bright and promising” – back then. These days, the future, to me, looks dark, scary and uncertain. My optimism is fading – there are days when I don’t feel what I felt in 2013 at all!!
I totally agree with you that these are trying time for this nation. I must say I’m concerned. I agree that things have gotten worse and beyond. If you look through more posts, as time has gone by, you may notice that the rosy color may be fading. I also agree that being dumbed down has continued to worsen and that the nation is falling apart! Sadly so …
Am I a ”liberal progressive”? I would like to know what your definition of this term is.
I am open to progress in the sense that we need to go forward, together, as a society – certainly not what has happened since 2013 and what continues to happen to this day.
I believe that as part of a society, we should live together, with a common goal, accept differences and respect each other. I believe in the common good – something that, to me, has been lost stealidy up to 2021. I believe in society, in helping others, in caring for others. I believe in the ‘we’ rather than only the ‘me’.
Seems this is a good start! Again, thanks for stopping by … have a wonderful day/evening!!
