Adele’s “Hello”

Before going into the actual post, I must confess that I have totally fallen in love with Adele’s new musical project.

I have been listening to her new CD “25” and must say that I’m totally taken by it.

I know I’m not the only one because everything seems to be Adele nowadays. She was on a visit to New York City and hit all the major talk and late night shows. She appeared on Jimmy Fallon and was hilarious.

She also filmed a TV special for NBS which will air December 14 at 10 PM. One show that I will surely record and watch at my leisure.

Ellen DeGeneres made a parody of her “Hello” which was quite entertaining. Heather Rooney, an incredible illustrator, painted a colored pencil picture of Adele.

I found this video, a rendition of Adele’s “Hello” by the Southern University Marching Band and the Dancing Dolls.

Southern University Marching Band’s Outstanding Cover

Southern University, “of Baton Rouge, not New Orleans: this distinction is incredibly important” as noted by USA Today, takes on Grambling State in the Bayou Classic every year, this year having been the 42nd face-off between the teams, according to the Bayou Classic’s website.

Southern University competed in the Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands on November 27, 2015, and they came to impress. With a stacked horns section, the band covered Adele’s chart-topping single ‘Hello’ with unparalleled power as the Dancing Dolls accompanied the band from the field.

Record-breaking ‘Hello,’ which is currently one of the most popular songs in the country (it has been at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 list for five weeks now) was the perfect card for Southern University’s marching band to play.

While Adele’s power-ballad might not be the first thing you think of when considering marching band music, the orchestration of the original track leaves plenty of room for the song to be adapted to a full marching band arrangement. The resulting harmonies are out of this world — just make sure you don’t have the volume turned up too high, these horn players mean serious business.

Bindi Irwin wins Dancing with the Stars with performance dedicated to father

I’m a very happy camper.

I’m so very happy that Bindi and Derek won the mirrored trophy. Their effort, dedication, talent and energy showed throughout Season 21.

Bindi is a a breath of fresh air, poor unabashed joy.

Her love of her family shone through the 11 weeks that the show lasted.

I’m excited for her and Derek.

I will miss waiting for every Monday to watch the “next dance”. Thank you Bindi, thank you Derek.

The 17-year-old daughter of Steve Irwin says show has ‘changed her life’ as she is announced winner of the US reality show with partner Derek Hough. They triumphed in the final of the reality TV show on Tuesday night, November 25, 2015.

The pair got a perfect score of 30 for their final dance routine and brought audience members to tears.

“Thank you so much for everything.

I can’t believe I’m here.

Thank you for changing my life,” Irwin said.

Irwin, who like her her father Steve Irwin works as a conservationist and a TV presenter, has been impressing audiences with her dancing flair during the past three months.

Steve Irwin died in 2006 after a stingray stuck its barb into his heart, and his daughter’s final Dancing with the Stars performance on Monday, November 23, 2015,  was dedicated to him.

First she and Hough danced quickstep to Dr. Bones, by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, and then moved to a freestyle dance to Footprints in the Sand, by Leona Lewis.

In a video intro to the dance, Hough said: “It reminds me of where you’re from and your dad always being there no matter what.”

Irwin said: “I’ve tried to just remember his strength, knowing that Dad is kind of still with me.”

International Kissing Day takes place on 6 July in the UK.   However, the day has now been adopted worldwide and is also known as National Kissing Day or Kissing Day.

When I think about it, the concept of a kiss is everywhere in society and has many meanings. A first kiss. A formal kiss. A passionate kiss. A kiss goodbye.

Kissing Day aims to make us appreciate a kiss in its own right.   No conventions, no social norms, just a kiss.  Across the globe we embrace the kiss by embracing someone else.

3 Cheers for Abby Wambach and the Kiss Heard Round the World

As the media gleefully reports on the US Women’s National Team‘s incredible 5-2 victory over Japan yesterday in the World Cup final, one news story in particular caught my attention. Upon winning, Abby Wambach did what anyone would do in a moment of triumph: she ran up to her spouse Sarah Huffman for a hug and a kiss. Generally a totally normal occurrence to kiss your spouse, except in this case her spouse is another woman. The moment was heartwarming, and I watched the Vine a few times with a big grin on my face.

But it is a big deal.

It’s a big deal because it’s so rare to see a real moment of love between two married women on TV.

It’s a big deal because 20.3 million Americans tuned in to watch the final (more than the number who watched the average NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Finals game, by the way). It’s a big deal because little kids still cry when they discover that they’re gay. It’s a big deal because our nation just got full marriage equality a mere 10 days ago. It’s a big deal because 39% of the country still opposes marriage equality. It’s a big deal because public reaction to it serves as a benchmark for how far we’ve come.

Can you imagine all the hateful rhetoric that would have been spewed about it if Wambach had had this moment of celebration with her wife 8, 12, 16, etc years ago?

Rumer Willis Nabs TWO Perfect Scores On Dancing With The Stars

Rumer Willis and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy nabbed the very first perfect score of this season on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” after dancing a flawless rumba to the song “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” by Doris Day on America’s Choice Night. But that wasn’t all, they received a SECOND perfect score, dancing a trio with Artem Chigvintsev later in the show.

Incredibly, Willis and Chmerkovskiy did it again when they danced a trio with Artem Chigvintsev later in the show. Check out the second video below of Willis and Chmerkovskiy’s perfect paso doble on “Dancing With The Stars“.

The trio numbers required the couples to add an eliminated pro-dancer or member of the DWTS dance troupe to their routine. As no doubt intended, adding a third set of feet to the party brought about both drama and disaster. And, while some were literally flawless with this dual dance format (including one pair who got two perfect 10’s!), others faltered under the pressure of performing two routines.
