FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND

I’ve been following this season with more enthusiasm than ever before. From the day Season 21 started, I’ve been following, admiring and rooting for Bindi.

Last night, the freestyle which Derek choreographed for her was simply amazing and unforgettable.

She has been consistent in her performances. She has improved so much as the weeks have passed. She seems to be older than her years. The support of her family and loved ones has been remarkable. The presence of her father, Steve, has been quite notable.

Tonight is the night.

I’m holding my breath because I really hope she wins the mirrored trophy.

I found this YouTube video which shows the complete evolution, the practice, the reasoning, the performance and the judging of the dance.

I think it’s worth a watch.

There was hardly a dry eye in the Dancing With The Stars arena on Monday night after frontrunner Bindi Irwin took to the stage for a heartfelt tribute dance.

The Australian teenager couldn’t keep her composure and fell sobbing into the arms of her partner Derek Hough, after a childhood image of herself with her late father Steve flashed up at the end of her sequence.

The judging panel and studio audience members were visibly moved by the outpouring of emotion and many were seen wiping their eyes.

New Music: Ricky Martin (ft. Pitbull) – “Mr. Put It Down”

This came out a bit unexpected.

(This is so new that I couldn’t find the actual video. Here you have an audio video)

There’s a new Ricky Martin English-language single playing on radio right now and it’s not the English version of “Adios“, it’s a brand new song featuring none other than rapper Pitbull and titled “Mr. Put It Down“. It world premiered on March 10 on New York City’s 103.5 KTU radio.

Meanwhile, Amazon.com just listed “Mr. Put It Down” for digital release on March 17.

Is there a new Ricky Martin album coming? It appears so! I mean, he just literally released his new album Spanish “A quien quiera escuchar“ in the market but there ain’t nobody stopping Ricky this year. He wants to be on every radio format.

Apparently, he’s going to release within the next few months a full-length English album, according to some industry rumors. And “Mr. Put It Down” may really be solid proof.

The raunchy, disco-flavored jam begins with a fairly standard verse from Mr. Worldwide (he’s brags about his way with the ladies), before Ricky joins in: “Who has a lifetime, baby? We’ve got the night right now. When you see what I’m planning, you’re gonna call me Mr. Put It Down.”

Sam Tsui, Casey Breves Mash Up ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ ‘I’m Not the Only One’ 

Fans have been yearning for a mega love ballad collaboration between hit makers Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, so YouTube singing sensation Sam Tsui partnered with Casey Breves to gift the world with the next best thing.

In a simple music video filmed in a living room adorned with Christmas lights, the 25-year-old flexes his vocals for Ed’s “Thinking Out Loud” while Casey simultaneously performs Sam’s “I’m Not the Only One.”

Casey Breves has performed across the United States, Europe, and Asia as both a classical and pop vocalist. He toured for three seasons with the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer — his first engagement after graduating from Yale University, where he was a member of the centennial class of the Whiffenpoofs.

He was a featured soloist in the world premiere of the oratorio A Melancholy Beauty at the Kennedy Center and Avery Fisher Hall, starred in The Fall of the House of Usher at the NYC Fringe Festival, sang the title role in Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and appeared as the principal soloist in Too Hot to Handel: The Gospel Messiah with the Symphony Silicon Valley.

“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”

(a trip down memory lane)

“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” is a song written by English singer-songwriter Elton John and his lyricist Bernie Taupin.

It was released as the first single from Elton John’s 1974 album Caribou; it was released that year during the latter half of May in the United Kingdom, and on 10 June in the United States. The song found further success in 1991 in a version recorded live as a duet between John and George Michael which reached number 1 in the UK and US.

In the song, Elton sings to someone he has helped and from whom he is now experiencing rejection:

I can’t light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I’m growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don’t let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see
I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can’t find, oh the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Don’t discard me just because you think I mean you harm

1991 George Michael and Elton John version

As successful as the 1974 record had been, it was as a duet with George Michael that “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” had its greatest success. The pair had performed the song at the Live Aid concert in 1985. Recorded live at a concert at Wembley Arena, London on 23 March 1991 when Elton John was a surprise guest of George Michael, the duet became a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

It was released later that year and reached number one on the UK singles chart for two weeks in December 1991 and a single week on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1992. The duet also spent two weeks at number one on the Adult Contemporary chart.
